The Poughkeepsie Jazz Project was created in 2012 with the goal of maintaining live jazz culture and community in Poughkeepsie, NY. Since its inception, The PKJP has presented a weekly jazz jam session accessible to all musicians and fans of live music. Over the past twelve years, the jam has been honored to host hundreds of musicians from the Tri-state area. This event is free to both participants and listeners. All with a passion for jazz are welcome.

Acclaimed Welsh instrumentalist Gwenifer Raymond will bring her celebrated American Primitive guitar style to Newburgh for a special concert event. Known for her passionate fingerpicking, Raymond is set to perform tracks from her highly anticipated third studio album, Last Night I Heard the Dog Star Bark, out September 5th on Canadian label We Are Busy Bodies on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025 at 7pm at Untouchable (40 Liberty St, Newburgh, NY 12550),
Raymond’s new album is a mesmerizing fusion of ancient folk traditions and cosmic futurism, weaving occult folk horror with explorations of the stars. The lead single, “Jack Parsons Blues,” showcases Raymond’s virtuosic playing with Arabian flair and flamenco intensity, inspired by the 1940s rocket scientist and occultist Jack Parsons. Raymond is supported by Canadian instrumentalist Christo Graham, as well as the Hudson Valley’s own lo-fi folk artist The Spookfish and Bronx-based psychedelic blues duo Blood Boy. Tickets | ||

ERNEST "CHICO" ALVAREZ PERAZA is a Cuban-American author, songwriter, vocalist and bandleader. He was also the host of a long running radio show, "New World Gallery", which aired from 1986 until 2017 on Saturday and Sunday afternoons over commercial-free WBAI radio (99.5 FM).
As a performer, Chico has appeared on stage at music festivals, such as Summer Stage, Celebrate Brooklyn, Lincoln Center Out Of Doors, Avery Fisher Hall, Damrosh Park, NJPAC, Queens Theatre In The Park and Flushing Town Hall, Harlem Jazz Festival, Battery Park Music Festival, African Street Festival and at The Skirball Center. CHICO ALVAREZ and MAFÍMBA's sound is unique and the core group is very versatile, with each musician able to interpret a broad range of genres, such as jazz, Latin jazz, salsa, charanga, & mambo. The band's repertoire covers a wide range of great Cuban and New York classics from the golden era of the 50's, 60's and 70's. $20 pp donation to the musicians. The public is invited to the Annual Christmas Concert and Tea at The Smithfield Church in the Smithfield Valley of Amenia, NY at 3 PM on Saturday, December 6, 2025. This year's program features the Smithfield Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Matt Finley. Music ranges from classical, pop, jazz, and holiday favorites, with an emphasis this year on jazz versions of holiday favorites.
The fifteen-piece instrumental ensemble includes flautists Michelle Demko & Lynnette Benner; clarinetists Charlie Gray & Alix Janove; violinist Rob Murphy; violist Piotr Kargul; cellist Jean Vilkelis; bassist Lou Pappas; Larry Ham on piano; Jeff Ciampa on guitar; Walter Barrett on trombone; Jeff Siegel on drums; Denise Jordan-Finley, percussion; Milt Lee, conductor; and arranger Matt Finley on flugelhorn. Mary Rose Cowden is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, producer, songwriter, and interdisciplinary artist. She started her career as a jazz saxophonist, earning a degree from The New School in Jazz-Performance. She has performed throughout Europe and North America, playing on the stages of Newport Jazz Festival, Jazz Festival of Bern, Switzerland, and Smalls Jazz Club. Inspired by her mentors Sarah Elizabeth Charles, Rachel Z, and Samora Pinderhughes, she seamlessly integrates her jazz roots with diverse genres and disciplines.
Mary makes her debut with her album "Past These Walls", drawing inspiration from cross-genre influences to create a sensitive, radically honest, and distinctive sound. Past These Walls 1 & 2 reflect the distinct phases of trauma and healing, tracing the narrator's journey toward resilience, peace, self-worth, and agency.
