Alex Radus is known as a “versatile crooner” and a “skillful fretman”, but his songwriting takes center stage. Known affectionately for his unique brand of genre whiplash, Alex pairs whimsical, poignant storytelling and soulful vocals with an eclectic mix of Americana, swing, blues, folk and more. Alex’s most recent release - Where Liberty Lives - “is the kind of song that reminds you what folk music was always meant to do. Timely, tender, and absolutely necessary.” Rock the Pigeon Music Blog. Alex has performed and co-written with John Gorka and has shared the stage with national artists such as Darrell Scott, Livingston Taylor and Jeffrey Gains. He was selected as a “Most Wanted” emerging artist for the 2025 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. Evocative Jazz, Exotic Lounge
with A Stick & A Box; Studio Stu & Brian Melick
Jazz, Alternative, and Contemporary. Evocative Jazz, Exotic Lounge
Night Market Kingston Half Moon Cafe
83 Broadway
Kingston, NY   See Map
This eccentric jazz duo takes the very best in classic jazz and pop, and twists and bends them into what they call ‘evocative jazz, exotic lounge’. In this ‘duo virtuosi’, nothing is sacred.....improv is rampant...lyrics are changed at will...notes and chords are bent and perverted...familiar languages are obliterated....harmonies are sweet and sour perfection, and yet, serious, sophisticated and uncompromising in execution. The is one in-tune, out-of-tune, offbeat outfit.

Praised for performances that “traverse the palette of emotions” with “gorgeous tone and an edge-of-seat intensity” (The New York Times), Grammy-nominated cellist and composer Andrea Casarrubios joins The Next Festival of Emerging Artists, returning to PS21 for the fourth consecutive year.

For America’s 250th anniversary, Next Fest presents a program of vital work by women immigrant composers. Artistic Director Peter Askim leads the string orchestra in world premieres by Iranian-American Niloufar Nourbakhsh, Festival alumna Adeliia Faizullina (Uzbekistan), and Wang Lu (China), alongside timely works by acclaimed composers Clarice Assad (Brazil) and Aleksandra Vrebalov (Serbia). The centerpiece is a newly commissioned double concerto for cello, percussion, and strings by the Spanish-born Casarrubios, which she will perform as soloist alongside the festival fellows.

DAVID LOPATO's music involves such diverse forms as modern jazz, stride piano, avant-garde classical music, blues, Latin and various world music, most notably those of Indonesia, where he has lived and studied Javanese gamelan. His body of music is both universal and personal and while his main instrument is piano, his interest in other, more exotic timbres has led him to explore new techniques for "preparing" the piano, as well as incorporate other percussion instruments and electronics into his work.

As a pianist he has worked with Ray Anderson, Dave Liebman, Joe Lovano, Mark Helias, Jane Ira Bloom, Tyshawn Sorey, Gerry Hemingway, David Mott, Wadada Leo Smith, Steve Gorn, Marty Ehrlich and Steve Reich. As a composer, he has been awarded several grants from the Nat’l Endowment for the Arts, the NY State Council on the Arts, NY Foundation for the Arts, The Beards Fund and Meet The Composer.

He is also on the faculty of the Jazz and Contemporary Music Dept. of The New School.
