Bobby Sanabria is a 7-time Grammy-nominee as a leader. He is a noted drummer, percussionist, composer, arranger, conductor, producer, educator, documentary film maker, and bandleader of Puerto Rican descent born and raised in NY’s South Bronx.
Bobby was the drummer for the acknowledged creator of Afro-Cuban jazz, Mario Bauzá, and has played with such jazz greats as Dizzy Gillespie, Tito Puente, Mongo Santamaria, Paquito D’Rivera, Chico O’Farrill, Celia Cruz, among others. Having performed and recorded as both a drummer and/or percussionist with every major figure in the history of Latin jazz, as well as his encyclopedic knowledge of both jazz and Latin music history, makes Bobby unique in his field. He is the Co-Artistic Director of the Bronx Music Heritage Center and is part of Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Jazz Academy as well as The Weill Music Institute at Carnegie Hall. An American jazz musician vocalist, pianist, songwriter, educator, and producer, Teri lives in New York City and also spends time in New York’s Hudson Valley. ROY NATHANSON has had a varied career as a saxophonist, composer, bandleader, poet, actor and teacher. During the thirty years Nathanson has led the Jazz Passengers, the band has recorded 10 CDs and toured extensively. Sean Griffin is a veteran Northeast rocker, and Music Conservatory at SUNY Purchase alum, who has fronted the Irish punk band The Ruffians for 25 years. Now, he is hitting the road solo in support of his record "People are Mad".
Sean Griffin has performed over 2,000 shows across the US and Europe, including support slots for Black 47, The Popes, Enter the Haggis, and Gaelic Storm. His new album was crafted by an all GRAMMY-winning team led by producer Kenny Siegel (Cheap Trick, Langhorne Slim, Tears for Fears), engineered by Mathew Cullen (Chuck Profit, Flaming Lips, Lemonheads), mixed by Paul Kolderie (Radiohead, Pixies, Dinosaur JR), and mastered by Greg Calbi (Ramones, Patti Smith, Bruce Springstein, Tom Petty, John Lennon). The single "Be My Girl" has been receiving airplay on SiriusXM, Regional UK Radio in London, and RTE 1 in Ireland and coverage from Spin, Chicago Sun Times and New York Daily News. Loralyn Coles has performed in the Washington, DC area since 1994, singing her own songs as well as traditional folk. Her CD, Blue Moonlight, tied with Tom Paxton for a 2008 Wammie award.
One of the songs on the CD, Golden Songs, The Water Is Wide, was published in a 2002 issue of Sing Out! magazine. The vocal lessons are real, but the teachers aren’t human. Since there are song battles between the characters, Loralyn is writing the songs mentioned in the book, as well. | ||
