Led by Music Director David Rudge, Erehwon Ensemble celebrates the extraordinary diversity of string orchestra music from Baroque Italy to 19th century Russia, Postwar Japan, Victorian England, Post-Colonial Africa, and our own 21st century improvisation on a Bach chorale. We conclude with the famous and highly energetic Libertango by Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla. Don’t miss this very special evening!

Brett Mitchell was captivated by music from a young age through tunes on his parents’ car radio. Music from the 60s and 70s especially appealed to him. At age 14 he was introduced to drums by a friend and fell in love. He begged his parents for a set of his own and by age 16 was playing regularly in a band in venues he was too young to enter. But Brett, though a phenomenal drummer, wanted to write songs and knew he needed to learn guitar to do it. By 2004, a chance to record an album became available and he was ready. [Stereo} was born in 2005; Small House in 2007; Falling Apart at the Seams in 2011 and For the Most Part in 2021. All music and lyrics are by Brett and he played most of the instruments for each project. With For the Most Part, he decided to record it himself in his modest home studio. The award winning songwriter lives in Northern Michigan, constantly touring with his solo acoustic guitar or on drums with his 3 piece rock band, Brett Mitchell & the Mitchfits.

Award winning Singer Songwriter Brad Cole returns to the Towne Crier for an intimate acoustic set with Eric Nies on keys.
Lawrence Anthony, affectionately known as "LA", combines Barry White, Teddy Pendergrass and James Brown, to get his signature style - "old school romance" and fiery funk! A bass/baritone singer, LA has performed with the legendary Intruders as well as on many "Motown Review" assignments. He is currently singing bass, invoking the spirit of Motown, with The Shadows of the 60's Tribute to the Temptations. In 2016 LA became a member of the world renowned "Persuasions", replacing the founding member bass singer, Jimi Hayes, who passed after a prolonged illness. He also founded LA Soul – a very high powered "Funk band", covering funk from the 60's to 70's.

The folk magazine Sing Out! described Betty and the Baby Boomer as “a refreshing reminder of the halcyon days of American folk music”. In each song they display the sheer joy of singing and playing music.” Along with performing original songs from Jean, the Boomers draw on traditional tunes, music from classic fokies like Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, and Phil Ochs, Americana roots music and contemporary artists such as Greg Brown, Bruce Springsteen, and Dougie MacClean. “Whatever the source, each song is “Boomerized”–set in distinctive arrangements with three and four part harmonies. The singers’ voices differ in range and color; they combine in a unique and resonant blend that is the Boomers’ signature. Their vocals are coupled to impressive instrumental work on guitars, Dobro, bass, bodhran, and kazoo; sometimes they perform an a capella selection. Critics agree their music is comprised of “beautiful melodies–meaningful lyrics–charming wit -all blended with engaging personalities.
