Sunday 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm | Maya Kharem in Concert Acoustic, Singer-Songwriter | BeanRunner Cafe 201 S. Division Street @ Esther Peekskill, NY See Map |
Maya Kharem and Ahmed Kharem are a father and daughter duo who've performed together in street fairs, coffee houses and at fundraisers.
Maya's musical development began with a home full of music, and with musical theater, where she honed her angelic voice. She studied songwriting with Steve Tubin, an accomplished musician who played with Liza Minelli and Loudon Wainwright. Maya's songs are poetic and thought provoking and use beautiful imagery and metaphor to explore personal and universal themes. Maya's dad, Ahmed Kharem, grew up with the influence of many styles of music, and brings those sensibilities and multiple instruments to accompany and enrich Mayas songs. Ahmed and Maya create a tapestry of vocal harmonies, and rich cinematic tones, that enhance Maya's ever-expanding songwriting. As new residents of Peekskill they are thrilled to share their creativity with their community at the iconic BeanRunner Cafe. Donations appreciated. For reservations, 914-737-1701.
