Their first full length CD, Soaked to the Bone, was released in 2016 to rave reviews.

Having built up a loyal following in the U.K., The Black Feathers have been spreading their wings across the US, and are garnering rave reviews here such as: “Once in a blue moon, the whole soars far above the sum of its parts. Classical Guitarist Chris Kienle in Concert
Classical/Opera
BeanRunner Cafe
201 S. Division Street @ Esther
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Christopher Kienle is a classical guitarist from the Hudson Valley area. He has been playing guitar since he was 11 years old. First interested in classic rock guitarists like Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton, his tastes and playing have since evolved from this well lauded genre to the great classical composers.

He brings the great composers of the past decades and centuries to local venues, cafes and restaurants. He in particular likes to perform music from Latin American classical composers like Heitor Villa-Lobos as well as arrangements of well renowned European composers such as Frederic Chopin and Erik Satie. He is mostly self-taught although he has taken classical guitar classes while a student at SUNY Purchase.

The Knights & Aaron Diehl
Jazz, Classical/Opera
Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts
149 Girdle Ridge Rd
Katonah, NY   See Map
Embark on a celestial journey with The Knights and pianist Aaron Diehl as they bring to life Zodiac Suite by Mary Lou Williams, one of the most influential jazz composers of the 20th century. Last year, The Knights and Diehl released the first fully-fledged professional recording of this incredible arrangement (it went on to become Grammy-nominated in the Best Classical Compendium category) and this concert marks their first live full performance of it. Williams composed each movement of her suite after an astrological sign and as a reflection of her jazz colleagues who shared that sign, like Billie Holiday (Aries), Duke Ellington (Taurus), and Thelonious Monk (Libra). The evening concludes with Beethoven’s “Pastoral” Symphony, paying homage to the composer’s deep love of nature. Whether you lean more classical or more jazz, this performance promises a convergence of genres that will leave you starry-eyed and inspired.

Jazz Manouche, is said to have been started by guitarist Jean "Django" Reinhardt in the 1930s. Born in Belgium and from Sinti/Romani decent, Reinhardt made his fame in France and was noted for combining chromatic Eastern European flavors with popular swing articulations of the period. The Broken Heartstrings performs the very best in traditional and postmodern jazz manouche, emulate the exciting sounds of 1930's Hot Club Jazz

Sean Crimmins, a native of the Hudson Valley, is an accomplished song writer with a unique style that is not often heard, incorporating fingertapping, fingerstyle and rhythmic plectrum style guitar. He is also an aficionado of Balkan, Celtic, Jazz Manouche and roots music, often adding bouzouki to the mix. Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts
Online and on the radio, NY   See Map
An avid story-teller, Jan’s musical topics are drawn from her extremely unusual life for a girl who grew up in the Midwest. She’s been a biologist, sailor, oceanographer, research SCUBA diver, science teacher, artist, musician, EMT and Hospice director; as well as a mother, daughter and wife, She was lost at sea without a boat (twice!), fell asleep underwater (once), worked with American crocodiles, swum with sharks, lived through earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, traveled around the US and as far away as Australia. Everywhere she went, on land or sea, music has always been a huge part of her life and a loving connection to the world around her.  Known for her unusual, and sometimes quirky songs, Jan has been writing and performing her Travis-style, folk music since the mid-sixties. Her songs have won several awards. She is currently working on her 11th CD, having recorded nearly 100 original songs, several of which have received radio air-play across the US, Canada and Europe.

Delight in the harp’s dramatic entrance to the concert stage via masterworks from 19th-century France … the French Belle Époque! With virtuosic sweeps, opulent arpeggiations, and the most intimate sonorities, Bridget Kibbey and the Calidore String Quartet team up to share tales of love, death, and the macabre, via masters of color Claude Debussy, Gabriel Fauré, Maurice Ravel and André Caplet. From behind the harp, Kibbey will illustrate how Debussy changed the way we hear harmony, how Fauré and Caplet were watching and responding, and how the harp turns itself from the most sacred of personas to the harbinger of death … via Edgar Allen Poe’s infamous story, the Mask of the Red Death, which inspired this program’s finale. The Calidore Quartet also brings their signature sound and virtuosity to a Ravel masterpiece.

An ice-cold, high-octane adaptation of Euripides’ play written in battle rap verse, this brand-new hip-hop version of Medea sheds contemporary light on the classic tragedy of family, power, and revenge – as stunning today as it was two thousand years ago. Quintero’s version of the story reignites the sacred rage of our ancestors and illuminates in the most human terms the extraordinary lengths that some people will travel to even the scales of justice.
