Saturday 11:00 am to 12:30 pm | Evocative Jazz, Exotic Lounge with The Rhythm Section; Brian Melick & Studio Stu Jazz, Comedic, and Alternative | Kingston Farm Market 285 Wall St Kingston, NY See Map |
The Rhythm Section; Brian Melick & Studio Stu, perform the basic form of jazz interpretation, drum and bass/voice duo, a sort of, ‘Duja Vey’ (the feeling that none of this ever happened before).
This eccentric jazz duo takes the very best in classic jazz and pop, and twists and bends them into what they call ‘evocative jazz, exotic lounge’. In this ‘duo virtuosi’, nothing is sacred.....improv is rampant...lyrics are changed at will...familiar languages are obliterated....harmonies are sweet and sour perfection, and yet, serious, sophisticated and uncompromising in execution. The is one in-tune, out-of-tune, offbeat outfit.

After a move to Greenwich Village in NYC, Bill was soon called upon by luminaries Matt Glaser, Kenny Kosek, Jon Sholle, Stacy Phillips, Paula Lockheart and Peter Ecklund, to play guitar on their highly acclaimed albums, while working on stage with Paul Siebel, George Gerdes, Rod MacDonald, Andy Statman, and others. Bill also continued writing songs, and produced two CDs, “Big World Out There” and “Folk-n-Roller,” which MuzikReviews.com called “a near-perfect album that never disappoints.” In 2023, Bill pulled out all the stops with his third solo CD “Flight of the BumBillB.” Layered with humor and satire, he again has written, arranged, and recorded the songs himself, while playing all the instruments. Bill currently resides in New York’s Westchester County, performing in and around the New York metropolitan area.

Lawrence Anthony, affectionately known as "LA", combines Barry White, Teddy Pendergrass and James Brown, to get his signature style - "old school romance" and fiery funk! A bass/baritone singer, LA has performed with the legendary Intruders as well as on many "Motown Review" assignments. He is currently singing bass, invoking the spirit of Motown, with The Shadows of the 60's Tribute to the Temptations. In 2016 LA became a member of the world renowned "Persuasions", replacing the founding member bass singer, Jimi Hayes, who passed after a prolonged illness. He also founded LA Soul – a very high powered "Funk band", covering funk from the 60's to 70's.
LA also has been heard as a radio personality on his own "Quite Storm" show on 91.1 WOSS in New York and has been seen in commercials and on documentaries for public and commercial television. Show will be outside on Esther St. If it rains, it will be in the cafe. $20 suggested donation. For reservations, 914-737-1701.
