Two unique works celebrating the life force of powerfully spirited women. For the first time, Pauline Oliveros’ “Intensity 2015: Grace Chase” written for and performed by MacArthur Award and Avery Fisher prizewinning flutist Claire Chase, and Winsome Brown’s poignant and hilarious play “This is Mary Brown” will be offered together as companion pieces.
Claire Chase: “The most important flutist of our time.” - The New York Times Winsome Brown: “Ms. Brown is engrossing.” - The New York Times “Intensity 2015: Grace Chase” is a moving and genre-bending work of music, theater, and storytelling. Composed by Pauline Oliveros from texts by Chase’s grandmother, it is an intimate and revelatory piece for flutes, text, and Expanded Instrument System, a sound processing system invented by Oliveros. Mala's music career has taken her all over the world, performing for international tours and festivals, as well in some of NYC's most prestigious stages, including the Iridium Jazz Club, the Blue Note, the Jazz Standard, the 55 Bar, and Brooklyn's BAM Café. Ghost Chant found their niche together by taking an eclectic pallet of influences to create their own blend of new age Melodic Hardcore. Kelby Dath writes and records his own music as an independent artist. He has an indie rock sound with lo-fi-style records. What started as a curiosity in music production turned into picking up a guitar and getting on the mic.
