City Winery Hudson Valley Presents An Evening With Cowboy Junkies live in concert on November 7th at 8pm
Sometimes revolutions begin quietly. In 1988, Cowboy Junkies proved that there was an audience waiting for something quiet, beautiful and reflective. The Trinity Session was like a whisper that cut through the noise -- and it was compelling. It stood out in the midst of the flash and bombast that came to define the late 80's. The now classic recording combined folk, blues and rock in a way that had never been heard before and went on to sell more than a million copies. Formed in Toronto in 1985 with siblings Michael Timmins on guitar, Margo Timmins on vocals, Peter Timmins on drums, and Michael’s lifelong friend Alan Anton on bass, the band has sparkled over the course of 26 albums. “I’ve known Alan longer than I’ve known Pete,” says Michael. “We were friends before Pete was born.” Buy Tickets!

Sunday 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm | 2023 Peekskill NAACP Freedom Fund Event Hip Hop | Paramount Hudson Valley Theater 1008 Brown Street Peekskill, NY See Map |
This year, we celebrate 50 years of Hip Hop. But not just hip hop, we celebrate our voice through music. Jazz, Gospel, Rhthym and Blues and Rap genres have been our voice for more than 50 years. Our expression of struggle, pain, joy and victory has been the one way that has been universal. We can cry, laugh, dance and sing the lyrics that effect us to our core and scream out loud without consequence. Why? because the song and lyrics may be just that for an “average” listener but to others, it allows the pain and anquish of life to know they are not alone. It allows US to say what they have been feeling without words we cannot formulate. From slavery to now, we use song to ease the pain of work, to worship, to commuicate and for entertainment. Hip hop is often used interchangeably to refer to rap or just the culture of Black music. Buy Tickets
