Peekskill, NY   See Map
Join us for an evening of light fare, live music by Paul Connor, and a growing community of friends to welcome our new neighbors to our regional community.

When the US pulled out of Afghanistan, we left behind allies who were working with American organizations. Some of these families are finally getting their visas and being resettled into the US. And a few families - right here in Northern Westchester!

Please help us welcome these new neighbors. Open Arms for Refugees is a tax deductible charity created to help their resettlement with a special focus on the children. Whether it's registering the children for school, teaching them basic English or providing a bookbag with school supplies, this volunteer based group helps ease the transition.

Suggested donation, $75 and 100% of your donation will go towards the families.

Peekskill, NY   See Map
With his strikingly similar looks, baritone voice, and spot-on mannerisms, Shawn Barker’s uncanny resemblance to the original “Man In Black” revitalizes the true character and spirit of Mr. Cash himself, one of America’s greatest musical icons, for a truly one-of-a-kind show. The energetic show features Barker in character throughout the entire evening, walking the audience through each era of Cash’s life and music, including hits like “Folsom Prison Blues,” “I Walk The Line,” “A Boy Named Sue,” “Hurt” and “Ring of Fire,” complete with a full backing band.
Shawn Barker’s first Man In Black show was held in 2004 at a casino in Niagara Falls and has since performed over 1,000 shows in 12 countries, selling more than half a million tickets over the course of his career. Born and raised in a working-class suburb of St. Louis, Barker took a schoolboy love for singing in church with his family and turned it into a career.

Our drummer and producer is a fifteen-year-old with webbed feet.

Our lead guitar player would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark.

Sometimes our bassist would accuse chestnuts of being lazy—the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament.

Our first show was typical. Sloppy but with a lot of gusto showing promise to

BeanRunner Cafe
201 S. Division Street @ Esther
Peekskill, NY   See Map
The Porch Brothers are Richard Brooker and Tom Heany. They sing and play acoustic guitars and mandolin. Their songs are mostly American and mostly vintage, with generous handfuls of originals, contemporary gems and surprises thrown in. A typical set might include jazz from Duke Ellington or Django Reinhardt, a gem or two from John Prine, some standards, a country classic from Cindy Walker, a few fiddle tunes and some of heartwarming, heartbreaking originals.

Richard Brooker's deft touch on guitar and mandolin comes from decades of playing songs from American, Celtic, Gypsy and Brazilian traditions. Tom Heany is a Hudson Valley songwriter; his instruction manual is the great American songbook, and his newspaper is traditional American music.

They sing like well-loved old cars.

Donations to the musicians are greatly appreciated.

Online and on the radio, NY   See Map
C. Daniel Boling tours throughout the U.S. and abroad as a solo
balladeer/songwriter, and as a member of the celebrated 1960s folk trio The
Limeliters.
All the songs in this episode of Hootenanny Cafe are from Boling’s ninth CD, “New
Old Friends” – a collaboration with folk icon and Grammy Lifetime Achievement
honoree Tom Paxton. Boling and Paxton co-wrote all 15 songs, and Noel Paul
Stookey (of Peter, Paul and Mary) joined them writing one song.
Paxton says, “Hello, Dan'l. Congratulations on a fine, fine album. I was honored to
have something to do with assembling it, and the pleasure of writing the songs
with you was real. We’ve been writing [together] now just for maybe a year and a
half, or two years ... It ought to have been fifteen or twenty. You feel like an old
friend, and so do these songs.”
