Taking place at Crellin Park in celebration of Crellin Park Day, the Guinean troupe – nine acrobats, dancers, and musicians – perform FA, their moving, personal story of migration and the quest for education and opportunity that brought them from the streets of Conakry to Europe and beyond. A collaboration between the performers and artistic director Anthony Weiss, FA is part of PS21 PATHWAYS and will be co-presented with the Town of Chatham on Crellin Park Day. Award winning, New York bred saxophonist, Ray Blue, brings his quartet to stage to create a deep, rich fusion of straight-ahead jazz, African groove.
Ray has performed and recorded with Bernard Purdie, Patience Higgins, Steve Turre, The Sun Ra Arkestra, Cotton Club All Stars, Harlem Blues and Jazz Band and many others. He has toured as a cast member of the "Ray Charles Show"; performed at international jazz festivals including the Zanzibar International Film Festival; North Sea Jazz Festival-Cape Town, South Africa; Audi Jazz Festival-Brussels, Belgium; and the Foix Jazz Festival, France among others; and was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame, 2013. $20 pp donation to the musicians. We are a community oriented, web-based music show of like-minded individuals. Join us as we band together to celebrate the craft of visual music performance. We strive to create a warm, inviting space where talented creators can come together to amplify the story behind the artists. Sound of a Smirk is a four-piece rock band hailing from Hudson Valley, New York. Lead singer Jesse’s quiet croons, harsh yells, and catchy choruses displays emotion-rich songwriting at the forefront. To build out the sound, mix in a prominent rhythm section with Nick’s pulsing drum beats combined with the grooving and growling bass from Peter. The final ingredient is the soaring and sometimes cutting leads from guitarist Brian. For its 23rd year, Jazz in the Valley will return to Poughkeepsie's Waryas Park on August 20 for an incredible afternoon of music, art, food, wine and family - celebrating the very best that the Hudson Valley has to offer.
This year, the festival kicks off on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023 with the city’s very first Poughkeepsie Jazz Crawl, consisting of exciting performances taking place at four local eateries. SofiaTalvik has released 9 full length albums and countless singles and eps. She has performed at festivals ranging from Lollapalooza to SXSW. part of the New Acoustic duo Hansan with German cellist David Floer.
Primarily a live artist, Talvik has taken her music across Europe and through 48 U.S. states, riding in her 1989 Winnebago Warrior with her husband and sound technician Jonas at the wheel, digging deep into the American sound and channeling it through her Nordic roots to create a singular brand of Americana. While her Swedish roots serve as the basis for her songwriting, she often calls upon her many journeys and experiences for inspiration, especially the uniquely American archetype of roaming the endless highway. She is currently on a 4 month 50+ concert Tour of the USA. | ||

Ana Fernandez is a Brazilian singer and songwriter born in Aracaju Norte East do Brasil. Her parents moved to Sao Paulo when she was still very young and Ana grew up under the influence of Samba and several other rhythms like MPB (Brazilian popular music), Bossa Nova, Xote, Baioa, Xaxado, Pop music, Carimbo, as wells as American soul, blues and jazz.
Ana moved to NY 10 years ago and has sung in legendary places like Zinc Bar, SOBs', Cafe Wha, Bronx Zoo, Queens Botanical Garden, the Jazz Forum and others. $20 suggested donation.
