Friday 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm | The Gibson Brothers Bluegrass, Americana | Towne Crier Cafe 379 Main Street Beacon, NY See Map |
Bluegrass royalty Leigh and Eric Gibson — named back-to-back Entertainers of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association in 2012 and 2013 — played the Nashville game two decades ago, while in their early 20s, and were offered a major label deal, only to be told at the last minute that they were too “retro” for modern country music. Today, such characterizations, along with their authenticity, set them apart and describes their 14th album, “Mockingbird.” A mix of country, soul and seventies rock, the album further cements the sibling duo as musical trailblazers. As players and vocalists, they are superb, harmonizing as only siblings can; as songwriters they stand without peer, having long been a band awarded for their songs and songwriting.Buy tickets

| Flying Cat Music is bringing Austin TX singer-songwriter Ray Bonneville to Phoenicia for a concert at the Phoenicia United Methodist Church on Saturday November 5th. Bonneville is traveling in support of his latest singles, “On the Blind Side,” and “The Way It Was Before” ahead of an album release in early 2023.
Bonneville has been called “a poet of the demimonde” with a style that sometimes draws comparisons to JJ Cale and Daniel Lanois. His music is blues-influenced, New Orleans-inspired, and has earned him the apt description of “song and groove man.” His original songs are gritty narratives inspired by a lifetime of hard-won knowledge set against his steely, soulful guitar and harmonica playing, accented by stirring foot percussion. Canadian born and current resident of Austin TX, Bonneville has shared the bill with blues heavyweights Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Dr. John, J.J. Cale, and Robert Cray. https://flyingcatmusic.org/event/4668552/598536919
