Sunday 7:00 pm | Jazz Coalition Series! with Wallace Roney Jr. "Gangway" | The FALCON 1348 Route 9W Marlboro, NY See Map |
"Gangway" symbolizes of the start of an adventure; the first and last thing you see before you embark, and disembark during any journey. The concept was heavily inspired by Herbie Hancock's "Maiden Voyage" and Wayne Shorter's "Adventures Abroad the Golden Mean". The free open nature of "Gangway" takes on many shapes, and as a result, it will never sound the same, twice. Roney's intention for this piece is for it to be listened to while you're going somewhere you've never been before.

His father was world-renowned trumpeter Wallace Roney Sr. His mother - universally acclaimed pianist Geri Allen. Growing up in a household full of music, it wasn’t long before Wallace took a serious interest in playing the trumpet. His idols included trumpet giants such as Kenny Dorham, Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, Woody Shaw, Lee Morgan, etc. At age 10 after showing enormous interest in playing, and a willingness to study harmony, his father gifted him his very own horn. Since then, Wallace has shared the bandstand and garnered the approval of many legends the likes of which include Chick Corea, Jimmy Heath, Charles Tolliver, Lenny White, Buster Williams, Jack DeJohnette, and the late great Ornette Coleman just to name a few. Wallace, a graduate of the prestigious Oberlin Conservatory of music, continues to play in numerous venues and performance spaces across the U.S and internationally, and remains a sought after trumpeter in the New York/New Jersey area.

Thursday 7:00 pm | The Essential Eric Andersen | The FALCON 1348 Route 9W Marlboro, NY See Map |
“Andersen is the most elegant of singers.” - Rolling Stone
“A singer and songwriter of the first rank.” - The New York Times “Eric Andersen is a great ballad singer and writer.” - Bob Dylan VIDEO: The Songpoet Trailer: https://vimeo.com/68694512 VIDEO: Eric Andersen and Joni Mitchell - Blue River live: https://youtu.be/cSbQp3zpgPk FEATURING ~ Eric Andersen / Guitar, Keys, Vocals Inge Andersen / Vocals Steve Addabbo / Guitar Sony Legacy and Real Gone Music release ‘The Essential Eric Andersen’. Andersen’s songs have been interpreted by Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Judy Collins, Linda Ronstadt, The Grateful Dead, Gillian Welch, Pete Seeger, Fairport Convention, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and Eilen Jewell. Eric Andersen http://ericandersen.com/ Eric Andersen is widely regarded as one of the most poetic songwriters to spring from the Greenwich Village folk scene of the 1960’s - a multifaceted, complex and singularly driven artist whose early career saw great expectations waylaid by misfortune. As a musician, he defies categorization. His artful mélange of love, despair, hope and stirring memory has earned him a passionate international following and the respect and admiration of artists ranging from Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen to Lou Reed and Wyclef Jean. For Andersen, every big break seemed to be followed by crushing disappointment. The premature death in 1967 of his newly acquired manager, legendary Beatles’ mastermind Brian Epstein, took its toll. Six years later, one of the most baffling events in the history of contemporary music occurred—a career-changer that still haunts Eric from the shadows. In 1973, during a corporate shakeup at Columbia records, 40 master recording tapes for a highly anticipated release mysteriously and inexplicably disappeared. Never before or after has a record company lost a complete album. Although the tapes resurfaced 16 years later, his career had been forever altered by the event—no plausible explanation has ever been given. A remastered two CD set has been made available, containing Andersen's BLUE RIVER his 1972 CBS debut produced by Norbert Putnam, and STAGES (his 1973 "lost" album for Columbia). These recordings feature, among others, Leon Russell, Joan Baez and Dan Fogelberg. ~The Songpoet Documentary~ A documentary film on Andersen's life and career, "The Songpoet", has been produced by Paul Lam

Friday 8:00 pm | The Outlaws, Paramount Hudson Valley Theater Valley and Box off Pop/Soft Rock | Paramount Hudson Valley Theater 1008 Brown St Peekskill, NY See Map |
| For The Outlaws, it’s always been about the music. For more than 40 years, the Southern Rock legends celebrated triumphs and endured tragedies to remain one of the most influential and best-loved bands of the genre. Today, The Outlaws have returned with new music, new focus, and an uncompromising new mission: It’s about a band of brothers bound together by history, harmony, and the road. It’s about a group that respects its own legacy while refusing to be defined by it’s past. But most of all, it’s about pride.
It’s About Pride was also the title of the band’s acclaimed 2012 album, universally hailed as their victorious comeback. “Because The Outlaws had been out of the public eye for so long, it was almost like starting over,” explains founding singer / songwriter / guitarist Henry Paul. “But because of the band’s history, we dig deeper, write better, perform stronger. Everything we do is to reinforce the notion that The Outlaws still matter, and that Southern Rock will always matter Info/buy tickets

Saturday 7:00 pm | Halloween Extravaganza!! with Ed Palermo Big Band | All-Zappa! | The FALCON 1348 Route 9W Marlboro, NY See Map |
The world's zaniest big band returns to re-form the music of Zappa, Pink Floyd, Yes, King Crimson, Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter...with comic diversions, because they can't help it!.
"Wonderful, breathtaking, fantastic, exhilarating, great sound, great production, great musicianship...I run out of superlatives..." – paradoxone.uk "[Ed Palermo]...one of the greatest musicians and arrangers in the world." – Christian McBride, American jazz bassist, and six-time Grammy Award winner "Palermo developed these charts during years of live shows with these musicians, and their mastery of the material shows in the performances, which turn on a dime yet feel fierce with spontaneous invention.... Palermo’s arrangements and these performances are precise, dedicated, raucous and incisive—just like Zappa himself." – Jazz Times VIDEO: EPBB Happy Together: https://youtu.be/0Ft46dKsqvo Ed Palermo Big Band palermobigband.com This eighteen-piece ensemble - five woodwind players, four trumpeters, three trombonists, two keyboardists, guitar, violin, bass, drums, and vocalists throughout - has been performing jazz arrangements of Zappa’s music regularly since 1994. But what started out as faithfully antic versions of the composer’s complex, fiendishly clever music has expanded to reflect Palermo’s passion for Todd Rundgren, British psychedelia and progressive rock. This often entails head-spinning in-jokes, such as performing Traffic’s 1971 tune “The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys” over Zappa’s bass line for his composition “Chunga’s Revenge.” The Ed Palermo Big Band performs monthly at the Iridium in Manhattan and regularly at The Falcon in Marlboro, NY, where Palermo often scripts elaborate thematic evenings. At one such event, vocalist Napoleon Murphy Brock—a longtime Zappa vocalist who frequently works with Palermo—sang the line “I’m never getting married” (from Jimmy Webb’s “The Worst That Could Happen”) as Palermo stumbled onstage in prison stripes for an evening dedicated to his 34th wedding anniversary. Most of Palermo’s humor, however, lies in the music’s richly textured citations and juxtapositions. The scores themselves are funny. “I wouldn’t call my thing a comedy show,” he said, “but it’s got a lot of humor in it. I often think that jazz takes itself way too seriously. Maybe that makes my thing stand out a little more.”

Traditionalists or progressives? Fronted by the charismatic Jamaican-born singer and songwriter Nee Nee Rushie, the seven-piece New York band The Big Takeover plays original music that is rooted in and reverent toward the genres and rhythms of Jamaican pop: reggae, rocksteady, ska. They are devotees of Desmond Dekker and the way the old school did it. At the same time, The Big Takeover crosses lines and blends traditions like global pop fusionists. Their deceptively complex arrangements and big hooks connect with the spirit of Motown and the uptown sophistication of the 21st century retro soul and R&B revival scene.Tickets
