![]() Featuring: Matt Darriau: Alto Sax / Clarinet / Kaval Frank London: Trumpet / Keys Paul Morrissett: Bass / Tsimbl Cimbalom Lorin Sklamberg: Vocals / Accordion / Piano Lisa Gutkin: Violin / Vocals David Licht or Richie Barshay: Drums VIDEO: Klezskalypso (Teach The Ska | Honoring The Skatalites): https://youtu.be/cfrtull7udI https://www.klezmatics.com/ Since their emergence more than 30 years ago, the Klezmatics have raised the bar for Eastern European Jewish music, made aesthetically, politically and musically interesting recordings, inspired future generations, created a large body of work that is enduring, and helped to change the face of contemporary Yiddish culture. Often called a “Jewish roots band,” the Klezmatics have led a popular revival of this ages-old, nearly forgotten art form. On their Grammy-winning 2006 album Wonder Wheel, the Klezmatics set a dozen previously unsung Woody Guthrie lyrics to music, widening their stylistic base by largely diverging from klezmer. They have also recently served as the subject of a feature-length documentary film, The Klezmatics: On Holy Ground. They have collaborated with such brilliant artists as violinist Itzhak Perlman, Pulitzer prize-winning playwright Tony Kushner and Israeli vocal icon Chava Alberstein, plus many other prominent artists working within multiple genres. The Klezmatics’ music is not a strictly traditional variety of the klezmer genre. Rather it is a comfortable hybrid that appeals equally to those with no previous exposure to the music and those already familiar with it.

![]() Friday 7:00 pm | Club d'Elf Vinyl Release | 'You Never Know', featuring:Dave FUZE Fiuczynski | The FALCON 1348 Route 9W Marlboro, NY See Map |
![]() Club d'Elf has been helping audiences lose track of time for almost twenty five years with its mesmerizing synthesis of Moroccan traditional music and electronic, dubbed-out funk. VIDEO: King Kong (Frank Zappa) Live in studio: https://youtu.be/kKZA8cAVDAY "You Never Know is a wide ranging romp, full of ....peerless musicianship inspired by music from India and Morocco as well as the maverick jazz of Miles Davis and Frank Zappa." - Banning Eyre, Afropop Worldwide “Crushed between the borders of Morocco, jam band land and the kingdom of avant-garde jazz lies Club d’Elf...James Brown-meets-Sun-Ra.” – Jed Gottlieb, Boston Herald "....the lovechild of Pink Floyd and George Clinton, dropped in Marrakesh...deeply psychedelic...." - WNYC. FEATURING: Mike Rivard / Leader, Bass Dean Johnston / Drums Paul Schultheis / Piano, Keys Mister Rourke / DJ and Special Guest David FUZE Fiuczynski (fretted and fretless guitars) www.davidfiuczynski.com/ Guitar shredder, researcher, composer, and winner of a Guggenheim Fellowship, David Fiuczynski explores the microtonal universe like few others. His many credits include Stewart Copeland (The Police), Jack DeJohnette, Hiromi, Bernie Worrell and Me’shell NdegeOcello. www.ClubdElf.com The band's new album, 'You Never Know', offers gnawa refracted through a prism of contemporary psychedelia—Morocco turned technicolor. The record unfurls upon kaleidoscopic clouds of spiced smoke, shifting from chopped dub-jazz through trance epics that reimagine Boston as a city of bazaars. Club d'Elf pay tribute to the music and musicians who have been primary influences, with half the album being covers of gnawa, Miles Davis, Joe Zawinul, Moroccan band Nass el-Ghiwane, and Frank Zappa. The other half consists of original music inspired by Rivard's personal journey into darkness following a near death experience in the remote jungle of the Peruvian Amazon. Each Club d'Elf performance features a different line-up, drawn from a constellation of some of the most creative improvisers from the jazz, DJ, rock & world music scenes of Boston, NYC and beyond. The band's music draws from a startlingly wide spectrum of styles, including jazz, hip hop, electronica, avant garde, prog-rock and dub.
