"...one of contemporary blues' most dynamic and innovative. musicians, releasing consistently exciting music... soulful, heartfelt and spellbinding." - Blues Review

"His fretwork is indelibly stamped with his own trademark blend of emotional heat and impeccable precision. Even at his most flamboyant, Walker sounds as if he's playing ideas, not just notes." - Living Blues

http://www.joelouiswalker.com/

Walker, a Blues Hall of Fame inductee and six-time Blues Music Award winner, celebrates a career that exceeds a half a century. One of most celebrated and respected bluesmen working today, Joe Louis Walker, returns with some of the most electrifying recordings he's done in his over 5 decade long career!

This extraordinarily Album Eclectic Electric (2021), includes the blues stomping opener "Uptown Girl Blues" and horn-powered "Bad Betty" as well a killer cover versions of The Eagles' "Hotel California" and Warren Zevon's "Werewolves of London!" You'll hear special guest performances by Waddy Wachtel, Doyle Bramhall II and the incomparable B.B. King Blues Band!

For many years now Joe has been raining fire with his guitar and spitting brimstone with his vocals. His playing "blows all over the map…gutbucket blues, joyous gospel, Rolling Stones-style rock crunch, and aching R&B. Walker’s guitar playing is fine and fierce." - Billboard

Walker finally takes his rightful place among the pantheon of legendary electric blues singer/guitarist/songwriters like B.B. King, Buddy Guy and Luther Allison. Blues Revue calls Walker "one of contemporary blues' most dynamic and innovative. musicians, releasing consistently exciting music... soulful, heartfelt and spellbinding." Living Blues says, "His fretwork is indelibly stamped with his own trademark blend of emotional heat and impeccable precision. Even at his most flamboyant, Walker sounds as if he's playing ideas, not just notes."

"...her casual between-song banter, in which she shared anecdotes about her amazing journey from small-town poverty to the heights of bebop to her current status as a grand dame of jazz.... both entertaining and revealing." - Bill Milkowski/Jazz Times

NEA Jazz Master, Sheila Jordan, is one of the most consistently creative jazz singers of all time - a superb scat singer, and an emotional interpreter of ballads.

And every time she hits the stage, she continues to pay tribute to her idol and main inspiration, Charlie Parker.

"...Alan Broadbent....wrote the sumptuously beautiful large-format orchestrations..."(Sir Paul McCartney's "Kisses on the Bottom") - The Wall Street Journal

Native New Zealander, Alan Broadbent, was invited into the studio scene as a pianist for the great Nelson Riddle, David Rose and Johnny Mandel, then asked to be a part of Natalie Cole's "Unforgettable" CD, touring as her pianist and, later, as her conductor. Alan wrote the orchestral arrangement for Cole's video with her Father, "When I Fall In Love", winning Alan him his first Grammy.

Broadbent was Diana Krall's conductor for her orchestra concerts and on her "Live in Paris" DVD. He was the arranger on the late Glenn Frey's CD, "After Hours".

Pat Chessell
Singer-Songwriter, Roots Music, and Celtic
Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts
Online and on the radio, NY   See Map
In a country that loves its Celtic music, it’s no surprise that Vancouver’s Pat Chessell has become known as one of the most exciting roots artists in Western Canada. Pat’s rootsy vocal style, charismatic stage presence and expert musicianship (guitar) are making for an ever-growing audience of enthusiastic fans. While his mostly original music falls solidly under the broad umbrella of ‘Celtic’, Pat’s range is prodigious and eclectic. It’s been variously described as straight-ahead “folk”, “upbeat Celtic influenced Canadian folk/pop”, and “moving mid-and-up-tempo contemporary Celtic”, among other labels. His tunes have also, on occasion, known to be tinged with Americana influences.
But, to cut to the chase, it’s all Pat’s music. Its music played and performed, and often written, in Pat’s distinctive and unique voice; strongly rooted in the Celtic tradition, but with an open-hearted connection to the place he calls home and the modern world around him.

Chatham, NY   See Map
Free and for all ages, Michael Gordon’s Field of Vision is a large-scale, site-responsive work adapted to PS21’s rolling landscape. Doug Perkins directs 36 percussionists playing specially constructed and tuned instruments composed of industrial metals, recycled materials, wood, and gongs. The large number of percussionists and the vast playing field highlights the perspective and the architectural movement of sound. In Field of Vision, sound is never a flat line; it takes on multiple roles in space and time, inducing a quasi-meditative, almost ecstatic state in both the audience and the performers. A sextet of our region's finest veteran Latin players, comes together to honor the music of Carlos Santana which shattered the barriers between rock and Latin music, across generations, introducing the world to the power and joy of Afro-Latin beats, forging a path for many Latin and fusion artists to follow.

From Woodstock’s 1969 earth-moving performance of Soul Sacrifice and Evil Ways, his work with John McLaughlin, to the esoterically beautiful Europa (Earth's Cry Heaven's Smile), Carlos Santana evolved before our eyes and ears. In 2000, the band won six Grammys in one night, followed by three Latin Grammys.

Considered Strauss’s only true comic opera, this rollicking piece represents an intriguing evolution in the composer’s work. With an incisively witty libretto by Stefan Zweig featuring a madcap cast of characters including the retired admiral Sir Morosus alongside a scheming barber and a wide-eyed ingenue amongst others, this imaginative production by Christian Räth (Das Wunder der Heliane, SummerScape 2019) promises to be delightful summertime fare.

Arlen Roth
http://www.arlenroth.com

In the fall 2021, Arlen released a CD with John Sebastian honoring the songs of the Lovin’ Spoonful, and has been in the studio recently on two additional projects, a new soul album with Jerry Jemmott and a solo acoustic CD.

"The Master of the Telecaster," and NY Blues Hall of Fame inductee, Arlen Roth is "the guitarist's guitarist," a brilliant musician with a remarkable 50-year career, and a highly regarded authority concerning "all things guitar," through his extensive writing, as the inspiration behind their creation, and a rare ability to cross genres and styles, seamlessly, with fluent mastery.

Vintage Guitar Magazine ranked him in the Top 100 Influential Guitarists of the Century, performing one of The Top 10 Greatest Recorded Guitar Sounds. His legendary guitar prowess includes his specialty, slide guitar. He has played some of the most resounding rock ever recorded, to include an acoustic version of "Layla", critically acclaimed as better than Eric Clapton's. His powerful version of "When a Man Loves a Woman" was called "likely the most intense workout ever recorded on a Telecaster" by Guitar Player Magazine.

Roth was Ralph Macchio's guitar tutor for the film, "Crossroads" and played many of his pieces in the movie. The final duel was arranged from parts played by Roth, Vai, Cooder and Bill Kanegiser.

Arlen has played with Simon & Garfunkel, Ry Cooder, Levon Helm, Phoebe Snow and Bob Dylan, among others, and garnered four Grammy nominations for his release "All Tricked Out!".

Arlen's album TELEMASTERS is dedicated to Gatton, Buchanan, Collins, Bryant, Nichols, White, Rich & Bloomfield. The team on this album are all "Telemasters" in their own right. Tunes were recorded in Nashville, L.A. and Austin, with folks such as STEVE CROPPER, JOE BONAMASSA, JERRY DONAHUE, BRENT MASON, VINCE GILL, ALBERT LEE, STEVE WARINER, JOHNNY HILAND, JACK PEARSON, BILL KIRCHEN, REDD VOLKAERT, WILL RAY, AND BRAD PAISLEY, and produced by Grammy-winning Tom Hambridge, producer of Arlen's seminal "Slide Guitar Summit" (2015).
