"Back with Jack: a special presentation to celebrate the year of Kerouac's Centennial - with the David Amram Quartet, and narrated by Adira Amram reading excerpts from Jack Kerouac's "On the Road".
FEATURING ~ Adira Adira Amram / Narrator David Amram / Leader, Vocals, Piano, Flutes, Percussion, French Horn. Kevin Twigg / Drums, Glockenspiel Rene Hart / Upright Bass Adam Amram / Congas www.davidamram.com Amram, the Renaissance man of American Music, still refers to himself as a "promising young composer". This performance is Amram's tribute to the influence of Jazz and Global music on author Jack Kerouac's writing style, as well as portraits of the great innovators such as Thelonius Monk, Charlie Parker, and Dizzy Gillespie long before most major journalists or authors appreciated these giants. Amram was Kerouac's major musical collaborator and friend for 12 years, is playing concerts worldwide celebrating the enduring value of Kerouac's writing and the enduring spirit of the music that continues to inspire us today. Since their first public jazz/poetry readings in NYC in 1957, Amram has continued to celebrate the spirit of inclusiveness and spontaneity in all the idioms which he and Kerouac cherished - jazz, Latin, world music, classical music festivals and his his symphonic and chamber music compositions. "The Falcon is the kind of place where I first met Jack and so many other truly gifted people the mid 1950s People felt welcome and there were no A-tables MUSIC was the star and reason why we all got together and felt at home. These small places that were all across America, reflecting the communities and cultures of the innovators were the home of music that has endured and survived neglect and disrespect, the collapse of the music industry and become our ambassador world wide, showing our Beauty Part! This tradition is why all musicians who have ever performed at the Falcon want to come back and why all who attend are grateful and enthusiastic that Tony Falco's dream of having all genres of music built to last has now become a reality. it s always a joy to play there as well as to come and listen to others" - David Amram - "a promising young composer"

Friday 7:00 pm | Jeffery Broussard & The Creole Cowboys | The FALCON 1348 Route 9W Marlboro, NY See Map |
Jeffery Broussard is the real deal. Dedicated to preserving and promoting Creole culture and traditional Zydeco music, with passion and commitment...an energetic, toe tapping world of the American Roots Music called Zydeco.
"Jeffery Broussard has long been respected as one of the greatest accordion players to grace our Creole culture, and for that matter, the world." - Don Cravins, Sr., Mayor, Opelousas, LA, Zydeco Capital of the World VIDEO: I'm Coming Home: https://youtu.be/NUF_iSpnlHs http://creolecowboys.com/ Jeffery Broussard is one of the most influential accordionists and vocalists in modern Zydeco music and continues to be one of the genre’s most dynamic performers and innovators. Born in Lafayette, LA, Jeffery’s music career started very early, playing drums in his father’s band, the renowned Delton Broussard & The Lawtell Playboys. Although he left school for farm work to help his parents, Jeffery would sneak in to the house, get his daddy’s accordion and teach himself to play. It was in his brother Clinton’s band, Clinton Broussard & The Zydeco Machines that Jeffery played in public for the first time. It is possible that without the experience of struggle and hard times that he could not sing, play with emotion and soul. His range is seldom seen in Zydeco - traditional songs of the old masters to originals, singlenote and triple-note accordion to fiddle. Whether he is playing a festival stage in front of thousands of dancers, a small theater of seated patrons, giving an interview, teaching a lesson or playing at a trailride, his warmth, love of the music, and talent shine. Jeffery Broussard is well, the real deal. Dedicated to preserving and promoting the Creole culture and traditional Zydeco music, Jeffery plays with passion and commitment to carry on his daddy’s legacy.
