Award winning, New York bred saxophonist, Ray Blue, brings his quartet to stage to create a deep, rich fusion of straight ahead jazz, African groove and holiday classics.
Ray has performed and recorded with Bernard Purdie, Patience Higgins, Steve Turre, The Sun Ra Arkestra, Cotton Club All Stars, Harlem Blues and Jazz Band and many others. He has toured as a cast member of the "Ray Charles Show"; performed at international jazz festivals including the Zanzibar International Film Festival; North Sea Jazz Festival-Cape Town, South Africa; Audi Jazz Festival-Brussels, Belgium; and the Foix Jazz Festival, France among others; and was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame, 2013. $20 admission. Back at the Falcon after a two year absence, WILLA VINCITORE and COMPANY continue to evolve their eclectic mix of music and players. Willa’s shows typically feature her original material, which debuted at the Falcon back in 2013, and still includes a wide range of blues, funk, soul, and Americana-inspired compositions. Willa’s debut CD, Better Days (2017) was among The Blues and Roots Music Report’s Top 50 Contemporary Blues releases of 2017. Willa’s second release, Choices, was coined “A mind blower,” and, “the best (early) release of 2019,” by The Rock Doctor (John Kereiff). Reggae band, WICKED, was born in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains - a tree of music with strong unified roots and a solid foundation.
Steve Vernon (a.k.a. WONSHOBA) is a Jamaican-born self-taught singer/songwriter. His originals "Need Love, Feel Love" and "Lord is my Shepard," were recorded in 2008 and "Sweat and Tears" was released in 2021. England-born Mark Richardson (drums and vocals) has played the punk/alternative/reggae scene throughout England, Holland and France, as well as the New York club scene. Nigel Acard (guitar) is an aspiring young musician, extending his reach from rock and bluesy-roots to ska and reggae. Brian "Raggamuffin" Collins (bass guitar) formerly managed Affinity and U.N.I., reggae bands that opened for Yellowman, Israel Vibrations and Shabba Ranks to name a few. "General Keys" plays a tiny violin while chewing tobacco and jamming with other happy musicians.
