Thursday 8:00 pm | Ladysmith Black Mambazo Roots Music, World | Emelin Theatre 153 Library Lane MAMARONECK, NY See Map |
For 60 years, South Africa’s five-time Grammy Award winner, Ladysmith Black Mambazo has warmed the hearts of audiences worldwide with uplifting vocal harmonies, signature dance moves and charming onstage banter. It was Paul Simon’s 1987 Graceland album that introduced Ladysmith Black Mambazo to the world. The late former South African President Nelson Mandela designated the group “South Africa’s cultural ambassadors to the world,” a title the members carry with them with the highest honor. In 2018 the group received not one but two Grammy Award nominations for two separate albums, a first in the history of World Music. These two nominations brought their career total to 19 Grammy Award nominations. One of these albums, Shaka Zulu Revisited, won Best World Music Album. This was the group’s fifth Grammy Award win, the most for any World Music group. Buy Tickets

Sunday 9:00 pm to 10:30 pm | Kim Ware and The Good Graces Singer-Songwriter, Americana | Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts Online and on the radio, NY See Map |
Drummer-turned-songwriter Kim Ware started the Good Graces in 2006, after purchasing a beat-up acoustic guitar she named “Buzzy”. The songs quickly poured out of her, melodic stories set to three chords that she often didn’t know the names of. Since then, Kim and tGG have toured the east coast; paid musical visits to Texas, California, through the Midwest; and showcased at such festivals as 30A, NXNE, and LEAF, where Kim was a finalist and placed in the top three at the New Song Singer-Songwriter Competition in 2019. She’s been praised as a “songwriter’s songwriter” as well as “an Atlanta treasure” by local musicians and press alike, with songs that blend the gritty realness of 90s-era alternative rock with the straightforward charm of country and folk.
