Grammy award winner C Lanzbom is a touring and studio guitarist with producing, performing, writing and engineering credits with Pete Seeger, Bruce Springsteen, American Idol finalist Crystal Bowersox, Shlomo Carlebach and Soulfarm. C's studio, Sherwood Ridge, is a state of the art recording facility just north of NY City.

Banjo player Russell Gottlieb brings a wistful and propulsive sound to the banjo, drawing on influences from rock to jazz, bluegrass to minimalism. Russell has toured extensively in the US as a founding member of the New Jersey-based band The Brummy Brothers, opening for Melvin Seals and JGB, Leftover Salmon, Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams.

Kensuki Shoji, a jazz violinist and member of Deadgrass. Born in Gifu, Japan, he began playing violin at 7 with Suzuki Method. As a tennager, he joined his father's Bluegrass band. After he finished high school, he moved to the U.S to study with Matt Glaser, also a world renowned jazz violinist Christian Howes.

Internationally acclaimed musician and in-demand studio session vocalist, Clare Maloney, has shared the stage with members of The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Starship, Hall & Oates, Blood Sweat & Tears, Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, Hot Tuna, The Tubes and the New Riders of the Purple Sage.

Dobro player, fingerpicking guitarist, vocalist, and educator, James "Pony" Kerr's performances are solidly rooted on the foundations of Delta blues and bluegrass, he incorporates a broad array of influences and enjoys the challenge of expanding genre boundaries for the lap-style square neck resophonic guitar (Dobro).

Larry Cook is a valued bass plaayer and contributor to the NYC music community, playing venues from Carnegie Hall to subway platforms. He has performed with a long list of legendary musicians in the world of bluegrass and country music, including Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle, Michael Daves, Tony Trischka, Noam Pikelny, Brandi Carlile, among others.

On this weekend in December, the Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center in Poughkeepsie will be the venue for this "Swingin' in the Holidays!, Big Band Style" show presented by The Big Band Sound 25-piece jazz orchestra to benefit the Sparrow's Nest local charity.

Performances are Friday, December 3rd at 6 p.m. and Saturday, December 4th at 2 p.m. General Admission is $20 and tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination will be required to enter and masks must be worn at all times inside.

The Big Band Sound 25-piece jazz orchestra, including six vocalists and swing dance performers, will be featured in a show spotlighting everyone's favorite Christmastime, wintertime, and holiday time music, all in the most exciting setting of a live big band.

This show is the eighth in a series of “Big Band Style” shows where more than $30,000 has been raised for Sparrow's Nest which provides meals to the families of caregivers diagnosed with cancer.

The public is invited to the Annual Christmas Concert and Tea at the Smithfield Church in the Smithfield Valley of Amenia at 4 PM on Saturday, December 4. This year's program features the Smithfield Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Matt Finley. The music ranges from classical to holiday favorites including carols and a little jazz.

The nine-piece instrumental ensemble includes flautist Michelle Demko, oboist and flautist Lynnette Benner, clarinetists Norman Baker and Judith Muir, violinist Rob Murphy, violist Piotr Kargul, cellist Jean Vilkelis, bassist Lou Pappas, and arranger Matt Finley on flugelhorn and flute.

Tea and delicacies will be served in the church community room after the music. There is temporarily no handicap access. Admission to the event is free. A collection basket will be passed during the program for donations to benefit the church.

Masks and proof of COVID vaccination are required.

This concert is part of the Bang Family Concert Series.

ANTON FIG is known as "The Thunder from Down Under", is a South African session drummer, perhaps best-known, since 1986, as the drummer and second-in-command for Paul Shaffer and the World's Most Dangerous Band. Letterman often referred to Fig as "Anton Zip" or "Buddy Rich Jr." Fig is also well-known for his work with Kiss and Ace Frehley.

In 2002, Fig completed his first solo record, Figments, representing three years of work and includes Richie Havens, Brian Wilson, Ivan Neville, Sebastian Bach, Ace Frehley, Al Kooper, Chris Spedding, Donald 'Duck' Dunn, Blondie Chaplin, Paul Shaffer, Chris Botti, Randy Brecker, and Richard Bona. From 2007-2021 Anton was the drummer for one of the most notable touring blues rock bands in the world - The Joe Bonamassa Band!

Bruce Molsky is a revered ambassador for Appalachian and old-time music. His authentic feel for the repertoire transports audiences to another time and place. JIMMY VIVINO served as the Music Director on Legally Prohibited from Being on Television Tour and Jimmy Vivino & The Basic Cable Band on TBS late night show CONAN. Vivino was a consistent element in O’Brien’s late night career, starting with the first episode of Late Night with Conan O’Brien in September 1993.

Vivino divides his time between recording sessions and live gigs throughout the country. In addition to his solo work, Vivino plays with The Prisoners of 2nd Avenue, Rumble & Twang with Lee Rocker, The Barn Burners, The Rekooperators, and the successful Beatles tribute band The Fab Faux.

Vivino has also recorded and played live with Johnnie Johnson, Hubert Sumlin, Levon Helm and Al Kooper. Earlier in his career Jimmy got his start producing playing and arranging for such artists as Phoebe Snow, Laura Nyro, John Sebastian and Donald Fagen.

A musician all his life, Jimmy also devotes his time to organizations that mean something to him. The Notes for Notes benefit, sponsored by Seymour Duncan pickups provides young people the opportunity to explore, create, and record music for free. Recently, Jimmy has also gotten involved with The Boot Campaign, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to cultivating awareness, promoting patriotism and providing assistance to military personnel and their families.
