Kenny Roby knew from the start there would be a lot to say for his first solo album in seven years, the emotionally and musically expansive The Reservoir. So much had changed in his world and the world at large since his stately 2013 LP, Memories & Birds, an exquisite reflection on the experiences and apprehensions of crossing over 40.

https://kennyroby.net/

A songwriter’s songwriter, Kenny Roby’s latest album ’The Reservoir' has been called a master class in that craft. A native of the Carolinas, he was originally known for fronting 6 String Drag, pioneers in the Alt-Country and Americana music movements of the '90s. The band was produced by roots music godfather Steve Earle and signed to his E-Squared Records.

Since 6 String Drag’s breakup in 1998, Roby has released 5 solo records as well as a live duo record with Neal Casal. Casal was slated to be the producer on Roby’s newest record when he passed away in August of 2019. Dave Schools of Widespread Panic then took over producer duties on ’The Reservoir,' which also features the musicianship of Tony Leone (Little Feat, Chris Robinson, Phil Lesh) and Jeff Hill (Rufus Wainwright, Chris Robinson, Steve Earle), among others.

“With his new album ‘The Reservoir,’ Kenny Roby seeks some solace between the darkness and the light, gleans lessons learned and transmits them through a set of songs that are taut, tender and flush with both resilience and resolve.” - AMERICAN SONGWRITER (4.5 of 5 Stars)

On ‘The Reservoir,’ Kenny Roby dives deep to find beauty in tragedy…the power of Roby’s songwriting is how well the stories connect with us all. - NO DEPRESSION

With The Reservoir, Kenny Roby affirms and reestablishes his spot as one of the (americana/folk rock/alt country) sub-genre’s most talented and evocative songwriters - AMERICANA HIGHWAYS

Rolling Stones' Horn-Man Brings together members of The Stones' Touring Company & Friends!
Special Guests to be announced!

http://www.timries.com

Highly accomplished saxophonist and composer, Ries tours the world playing saxophone, keyboard and organ with the Rolling Stones. His recording and performance credits include work with Donald Fagen, Paul Simon, Sheryl Crow, Lyle Lovett, Stevie Wonder, Incognito, Blood Sweat & Tears, Bob Belden and David Lee Roth.

Having already released five original jazz compact discs, Tim now channels his energy into creating jazz interpretations of rock and roll standards.

Reis turned the tables and arranged Rolling Stones music for his jazz quintet, drawing a great response when he played the results for the Stones. Keith Richards in particular played it over and over. Tim's CDs "The Rolling Stones Project" (volumes I and II) had him leading 24 musicians including Keith Richards, Ron Wood and Charlie Watts, as well as Norah Jones, Sheryl Crow and two of the Stones' back-up singers in the music.

Kingston Farmers Market
John Street & Crown Street
Kingston, NY   See Map
The Rhythm Method is a wild ride through the interpretation of jazz music, a sort of, ‘Duja Vey’ (the feeling that none of this ever happened before).

This eccentric jazz quartet takes the very best in classic jazz and originals, and twists and bends them into what they call ‘jazz unstandards’. In this ‘quartetto virtuosi’, nothing is sacred.....improv is rampant...lyrics are changed at will...notes and chords are bent and perverted...familiar languages are obliterated....harmonies are sweet and sour perfection, and yet, serious, sophisticated and uncompromising in execution. The is one in-tune, out-of-tune, offbeat outfit.

"A dream team of forward-leaning hard-bop" - Nate Chinen, The New York Times
http://www.thecookersmusic.com/
Experience counts, especially in jazz. The more time musicians spend interpreting tunes and interacting with others, the more articulation an audience can expect. You can hear the fruits of such work in the expressive language The Cookers bring to the bandstand and to their three critically acclaimed recordings, Warriors, Cast the First Stone and Believe. This exciting new all-star septet summons up an aggressive mid ‘60s spirit with a potent collection of expansive post-bop originals marked by all the requisite killer instincts and pyrotechnic playing expected of some of the heaviest hitters on the scene today.

Billy Harper, Cecil McBee, George Cables, Eddie Henderson, and Billy Hart all came up in the heady era of the mid ‘60s - a period that found the dimensions of hard bop morphing from their original designs, and each of these guys helped facilitate the process as members of some of the most important bands of the era.

Hart and Henderson were members of Herbie Hancock’s groundbreaking Mwandishi group; Cecil McBee anchored Charles Lloyd’s great ’60s quartet alongside Keith Jarrett and Jack DeJohnette; Billy Harper was part of Lee Morgan’s last group, as well as being a member of Max Roach’s Quartet and Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers; while George Cables held down the piano chair in numerous bands including groups led by Sonny Rollins, Joe Henderson, Freddie Hubbard, Dexter Gordon and Art Pepper. David Weiss,, from a more recent generation and the youngest member of the band, is an expert in this forthright lingo, having gained experience performing with Bobby Hutcherson and Freddie Hubbard, among others.

Each member of the Cookers has spent time leading his own series of groups as well, and
each has a keenly individual sound. But it’s the unmistakable power of teamwork that makes this music so commanding and resonates with a kind of depth and beauty that speaks of the seasoned track record of its principals; combined, the group has over 250 years of experience in the jazz world and has been a part of over 1,000 recordings.

Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts
Online and on the radio, NY   See Map
Based out of Toronto, Ontario, singer-songwriter Bryce Thomas writes, performs, and records his own unique blend of folk, roots, and “mariner rock” music. Bryce's latest album, ACROSS THE NEURO SEAS, features 12 evocative tales in the spirit of 1970s Bruce Springsteen, Cat Stevens, and Billy Joel. Bryce says. “I knew I wanted this to be a true album in the sense of all the songs relating to each other in some way; to have a single arc from the first song Perpetual Motion Machines to the conclusion with We Shall Be Bound. For me, the common storytelling thread is love blooming and love lost, and the duality that exists in any relationship.” While there are sure to be many “what I did during my pandemic lockdown” records on the horizon, Bryce’s Across The Neuro Seas bears all the hallmarks of a true folk-pop auteur, with a timeless sound sure to remain relevant long after we’re allowed to once again get together.
