"Mr Pilc seems to have dropped from the sky fully formed, with technique and his ideas in place. He is a physical and densely harmonic player, a splashy stunner who also has a Rubik's-cube mind for chord substitutions." - Ben Ratliff, The New York Times

http://www.jeanmichelpilc.com/

Self-taught Jean-Michel Pilc has performed with Roy Haynes, Michael Brecker, Dave Liebman, Jean Toussaint, Rick Margitza, Martial Solal, Michel Portal, Daniel Humair, Marcus Miller, Kenny Garrett, Lenny White, Chris Potter, John Abercrombie, Mingus Dynasty & Big Band, Lew Soloff and Richard Bona. Christopher Mark Jones
Singer-Songwriter, Americana, and Folk/Traditional
Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts
Online: www.wtbq.com or 93.5FM, NY   See Map
Christopher Mark Jones sees the world through song. He might adopt the point of view of a Salvadoran migrant ("Caravan"), a single mother ("I Work Hard For A Living"), an unemployed Montrealer ("Dans La Ville"), or an auto worker ("Lordstown"). What was a pure tenor is now “slightly rough around the edges” (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette), but still grabs the listener along with his “fascinating lyrics” (Melody Maker) and the “wide-ranging textures and exquisite instrumentation” (Saturday Light Brigade) of his recordings. Listeners hear echos of “Greg Brown's pacing and a Lyle Lovett attitude” (Ben Shannon), as well as John Prine, Bruce Coburn and Darrell Scott. In 2017 he released Incantations--his fifth album since 1978’s No More Range To Roam--and the book Smoke On The Meadow: Selected Lyrics 1977-2017. Between careers as a basketball player and French professor, Jones busked in Paris, toured the UK, Denmark, and Holland, and Boston-area clubs. He now travels solo from Pittsburgh, PA.

Kingston Artist Collective

Kingston, NY   See Map
Formed in 2018, Ocelot is a Brooklyn based Avant-Jazz trio consisting of Yuma Uesaka (Saxophone/Clarinets), Cat Toren (Piano/Keyboard) and Colin Hinton (Drums/Percussion). As all members of Ocelot are prolific composers and improvisers, the group’s repertoire is varied and dynamic. Ocelot hones their sound with rhythmic propulsion, long lyrical melodies, soft textures, and aggressive free jazz, exploring each sound-world to its nethermost depths and transformations. The group has a synergy that brings out the confidence and trust necessary for deep musical exploration while showcasing full command of their individual instruments. Ocelot exemplifies the emergent wave of musicians that work within the intersections of many musical idioms including jazz, contemporary western classical, and noise music.

THE GOOD FATHER, by Adrienne LaValley (Peekskill, NY.)- A family with generational bipolar disorder and what happens when that goes unchecked, allowing every new generation to be deeply affected in their own way. It sheds light on the decades of irreparable damage that can be caused by choosing to keep silent about a family’s mental illness. Shame and fear perpetuate the idea that hurt people, hurt people. Paramount Hudson Valley Arts is delighted to host the Dramatists Guild Footlight Series DG Footlights™ a program, created and moderated by the Dramatists Guild, that connects dramatists with space in which to hold a public reading of a new work that is currently in development. The world's zaniest big band performs and re-forms the music of Zappa, and Captain Beefheart. Tonight featuring legendary slide guitarist Denny Walley!

In 1955, he met Frank Zappa. “I was 12 going on 13, and we moved into the same housing development that Frank Zappa lived in,” Walley says. “I became best friends with Frank’s brother Bobby.

In 1974: “I walked in the door and could’ve dropped to my knees,” he says. “George Duke was on keyboards. Tom Fowler was the bass player. Chester Thompson was behind the drums, plus Napoleon Murphy Brock and Frank. That was what I walked into.”

To paraphrase a rhetorical question once posed by Frank Zappa: Does humor belong in jazz? For arranger, composer, saxophonist and bandleader Ed Palermo, the answer to that query has long been “Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes!”

MMB is a five piece powerhouse collaboration dedicated to breathing new life in to that old school sound created and captured by our heros: The Allman Brothers Band , Johnny Winter, Janis, Bonnie Raitt, Freddie King... and the beat goes on.

Based in the Hudson Valley but hailing from Duanesburg, NY to Greenwich Village, the band is fronted by soaring, gritty lead vocals by Tracy Madison, searing guitar work on vintage gear by Mike and Joe Menza and held down by Rich Sarles and Tim Chanowitz.. the frieght train rhythm section.

Blues, soul, and Rock 'n Roll ! Featuring some brand new original material!

Expect some awesome food, drinks and feel good music, don’t miss it!
