Joel Rafael
Singer-Songwriter, Folk/Traditional
Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts
Online: www.wtbq.com or 93.5FM, NY   See Map
Joel Rafael’s 10th album, Rose Avenue, gracefully defines him and his contribution to the American canon. In his 70th year, Rafael continues writing, inspired by his vision of the world, but with a more personal, inward look. Personal and universal loss brought greater clarity to his thoughts. On Rose Avenue the political world and climate of incivility are examined in light of the present and the past. But the album overwhelmingly is an examination of a man, by a man, and is a testament to a never-ending search for truth. The resulting work radiates warmth and significance with a voice that is clear and strong. On Rose Avenue Rafael’s perception seems deeper, perhaps because he has lived life fully, giving him better insight into the songs he is writing; as well as a full measure of gratitude for what has been, and what lies ahead.

Leeroy Stagger’s ever-evolving fusion of roots, rock and pop has confirmed his status as one of Canada’s best contemporary singer/songwriters.

After 11 albums, two EPs and 17 years as a singer-songwriter, Strange Path is the name of Stagger’s newest album and book. No path is without a fork or two along the way. “Imagine Tom Waits as a member of Mumford & Sons playing songs by the Lumineers, with a hint of Chris Stapleton....Flanigan, whose smoky barroom voice provides contrast to the melodic plea he unleashes with an urgency.” (John Barry, Poughkeepsie Journal).

https://www.ianflaniganmusic.com/home

His most recent release, “Picture You” received accolades both internationally and regionally, marking the success of a milestone collaboration with three-time Grammy winner and Hudson Valley local, Justin Guip (co-producer, engineer, percussionist).

Flanigan’s sound—an eclectic blend of progressive folk and percussive finger style—is reminiscent of the road less traveled, paved with poignant lyrical truths of his past. Local to upstate New York, Flanigan’s songwriting features husky vocals and evocative lyrics.

ToasterBasket is inclusive, cohesive, and improvisational. It is the raw and husky verses of songstress Jezebel Jeffrey, and the syncopated tones of keyboardist Patrick Stokes that started the story of this New York group. The pair began writing music together and soon added Jason Levine on Bass, Steven Repka on Guitar and most recently Terry Hampton keeping everyone tight on drums. With a wide range of influences, ToasterBasket appeals to listeners of all ages.

Born and raised in Greenwich Village, Bill Curreri is gaining considerable national acclaim as one of today’s most talented Rock Americana singer-songwriters and performers. After his #1 hit, Fade Away on Adult Contemporary Radio in 2015 Bill saw amazingly strong charting of several of his songs on AC and Top40 Radio. Also Bill’s song, Son Of An American Dream was named to Top40 Radio’s FMQB list of the Top 100 Songs In 2014. This led to Bill being named the Independent Music Network's Favorite Mainstream Artist Of 2014 and New Music Weekly’s Best Crossover Artist Of The Year in 2015. And critics nationwide have compared Bill and his music to several iconic Rock artists including Tom Petty, The Eagles, Bob Dylan, The Byrds and even The Beatles! Goldmine Magazine has referred to Bill as a "stirring new voice". And boomercity.com concluded, “Curreri... reveals a level of songwriting that many his senior have yet to attain.” This is one night of music you definitely don't want to miss!
