![]() Sunday 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm | Hudson Valley Sally Folk/Traditional | BeanRunner Cafe 201 S. Division Street @ Esther Peekskill, NY See Map |
Rooted in the tradition of activist folk music, Hudson Valley Sallie has an unending chain that goes back centuries and spans the globe. We are dedicated to keeping alive some of the oldest songs, and introducing some of the newest. In fact, each set typically includes some songs more than a century old and some less than a year old.
While harmonic patterns and rhyme styles have evolved over the decades, we are not afraid to experiment with tradition. Our goal is to make the oldest songs sound fresh, and to make the newest feel like you've always known them.
Most remarkable of all is how little many of the themes have changed - peace, poverty, and justice were the heart of the movements then, and still are today. Our unique combination of musical sensibilities produces a new voice that adds one more link in the chain.$10 admission

"Pulling from the greatest corners of American music, this group has the power to get feet moving with or without amplification. Like fresh-farmed vegetables, their music is as organic as it is good for you. From foot-stomping bass, highlighted by the slap of a cajon, to the familiar strums of the mandolin over a wailing saxophone – there’s so much going on instrumentally that when the harmonious lead vocalists chime in, the result is nothing short of a homegrown hurricane of sound." - Otis Mountain Get Down

Alexis P. Suter is a 2017 BMA Nominee for Best Female Contemporary Blues Vocalist! Alexis is a powerhouse bass/baritone vocalist with the ability to go to "that other place" where singers go when they are lost in the music."She is one of those wonderful spirits; she's got her arms around you. You can feel that." - Levon Helm (1940-2012) "It's a rare thing to share the stage with great talent like that young lady." - B.B. King (1925-2015) The root of the Alexis P. Suter Band is Suter's deep, powerful, commanding, and soulful voice, artfully blending the lines between gospel and blues. Suter is the daughter of a singer, Carrie Suter, backing vocalist with Harry Belafonte, Mahalia Jackson and Rosetta Tharpe and cites the late classic R&B singer, Ruth Brown, as a primary influence, as well as Barry White, DJ Rogers, and her sister Andrea P. Suter. Alexis P. Suter & Band are touring in support of their latest release "All For Loving You".

![]() Saturday 9:30 pm to 12:30 am | ORIGINAL Music with an edge... with Marc Von Em Acoustic, Singer-Songwriter | 12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar 12 North Division Street Peekskill, NY See Map |
Marc Von Em is here with his full band tonight! His original music is influenced by folk, funk & blues, with a few choice cover songs woven in. As one reviewer wrote: "If you haven't seen Marc Von Em perform live, you're only cheating yourself."Marc's chops are wide-ranging, from delicate finger picking to rambunctious Pete Townsend-type strumming. Marc is able to seamlessly switch his vibe -- his dynamic voice can go from smooth & soaring to smoky scatting. His harmonica playing is equally impressive and he sometimes uses it to accompany Muddy Waters-style blues on guitar. Marc recently finished his 3rd tour with The Rob Thomas Band -- this year with the famed '90s band, Counting Crows. After their 1st tour together, Rob Thomas wrote, "... when I heard his original stuff, I asked [Marc] to open up a 10,000 seat gig. Just him, his guitar, and his songs. He killed it!" **$10 Cover or $5 with Dinner Entree** See Marc's performance with the Rob Thomas Band
