Open Mic
Towne Crier Cafe

Beacon, NY   See Map
Now FREE! For over 25 years the Towne Crier's legendary Open Mic Nights have drawn top talent from throughout the Hudson Valley and beyond, including Sloan Wainwright, the Slambovian Circus Of Dreams and Red Molly. Known as a true "listening room," it provides artists with a respectful performance space, and live music fans with the best entertainment value around. Don Lowe hosts.

For a variety of reasons, after trial and error, email signups have not worked out, so we have discontinued it. Signups are exclusively in person (no phone signups either) between 5pm and 7pm day of the open mic. Show up early in order to pick a slot (with the host's consent and at his/her sole discretion!)

Legendary rebel Johnny Cash comes to life in this re-creation show
with Cash Is King, Truck Stop Troubadours
Covers, Country, and Americana. Rockabilly
Daryl's House
130 NY-22
Pawling, NY   See Map
Country music fans are in for a rare treat when Cash is King brings back the musical explosion that was Johnny Cash. Cash was a classic with a songbook of hits that resonate with the hooks and lyrics that were pure Cash -- Folsom Prison Blues, I Walk The Line, Ring Of Fire. and many more. On Friday, February 26th, at 8 p.m. at Daryls House Johnny Cash, his full band and June Carter can be experienced thanks to the ultimate tribute show Cash is King! Johnny Cash is portrayed by the spot-on Brian Chicoine who will amaze as he sings, plays and tells the story of Johnny Cash's life. His voice bears an uncanny similarity to that of the legendary singer -- the closest thing to the original that can possibly be. With period costumes, cover versions of Cash classics and between-song banter, this event captures the essential Johnny Cash. Vicky St. Pierre plays June Carter to perfection.

Whether playing solo with an acoustic guitar or screaming Hendrix-style riffs on violin, Drew Bordeaux never fails to captivate and entertain any audience. His use of the loop pedal brings an entirely new sound to the solo performance. And if we're lucky enough for Drew to whip out his violin, watch out!

Robert Burke Warren of Chronogram Magazine says, “In pop music, stealth and restraint often go unheralded, yet these qualities are every bit as important as flash and dazzle; subtlety, in the right hands, can pack as much punch as obviousness. Husband-and-wife duo Michele and Rick Gedney, aka Open Book, know all of this...the low key power of haunting melody buttressed with expansive harmony, the satisfaction of adroit wordplay entwined with skillfully understated musicianship."

On the Top 10 Artists of 2014 list on the Folk DJ charts, along with Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, John McCutcheon, John Gorka and the Stray Birds.

In April 2014 Joe released his fourth recording, “Georgia I’m Here.” 12 songs, beautifully crafted sonic sculptures and landscapes. As a listener you are not just an observer, you are IN the song. You ARE the window washer on the 42nd floor. Joe believes in creating the world we want, and he is reaching towards the sublime, both cruel and beautiful. Georgia I’m Here was the 6th most played recording in 2014 and Joe’s song Riding the Train was the 6th most played song in 2014 on the Folk DJ charts.

Even before forming the pioneering, Grammy winning, platinum selling rock band Living Colour, Corey's incredible talent as a personality and as an artist was brought to the attention of director Oliver Stone. The famed movie maker decided to cast Corey in his Vietnam epic, Platoon.

As a founding member of Living Colour, Corey earned numerous industry awards including back-to-back Grammys for Best Hard Rock Performance of 1989 ('Cult of Personality') and 1990 (Time's Up) and emerged as one of the most influential rock acts of all time, regularly selling out arenas and millions of albums.

Corey found the time to form a new band, VICE, which enables him to satisfy his appetite to write in other genres and impact a whole new set of listeners.
