”Virtuosos on clarinet and saxophone." - The New York Times

At a very young age, Bethesda, Maryland natives Peter and Will Anderson were drawn to the music of Charlie Parker, Dexter Gordon, Duke Ellington, and John Coltrane. They toured the United Kingdom at age 15, and after several years of study with D.C.’s Texas-native saxophonist Paul Carr, Peter and Will attended Juilliard in New York City, where they currently reside. Their expertise has made them saxophonists of choice for Jimmy Heath, Wycliffe Gordon, and the Village Vanguard Orchestra.

Singer/songwriters Ari Hest and Chrissi Poland create this scintillating duo, an infusion of jazz & indie-folk steeped in Brazilian/world overtones.

Chrissi and Ari created Bluebirds, an infusion of jazz-indie-folk with Brazilian-World overtones, by accident. "We weren't planning on starting a band together", comments Chrissi. "Ari had a show that he asked me to open for, and it was during the holidays. We thought it would be fun to write a holiday song in a Brazilian, Jobim-inspired way. We both are big lovers of Brazilian jazz songs and melodies, and so from this idea our first song "Snow" was born. We knew we were on to something special after that”.

"Christine Spero and I shared a bill and I knew that she was doing a tribute to my old friend Laura Nyro, but I wasn’t prepared for just how amazing Christine’s performance turned out to be. She was able to channel Laura with all the feeling and intelligence that the music warranted, but, at the same time, made Laura’s music her own." - Steve Katz (Blood, Sweat and Tears and the Blues Project)

Pianist, singer Christine Spero and her group take the listener on a journey through some of Laura’s most memorable work- poignant and timeless. The arrangements are hip, the vocals are beautiful, the musicianship is stellar, and true to Nyro’s originals.

The Falcon
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
For many years Bill O'Connell worked as the go-to pianist and arranger for artists such as Mongo SantaMaria, Dave Valentin, Gato Barbieri,The Fort Apache Band among others. Bill has, perhaps more that any other pianist, developed a true melding of Latin and Jazz music. His playing, from robust chordal comping to exuberant and sometimes knotty solos, transcends categorization and combines rhythmic complexities with glittering single note runs in a sort of Bud Powell-meets-Chick-Corea sound. O'Connell provides a thoughtful program of originals and a few re-imagined standards filled with energy and high spirits from a powerful voice in Latin Jazz.

“So creative, charming, funny, unpredictable, and smart! I LOVE her!” * Sharon Glassman performs her funny-smart stories and songs with a Prairie-Home-meets-Gilda-Radner 2.0 style that sings to audiences’ heart, hopes and funny bone. This nationally-presented entertainer performs songs and excerpts from her novel-with-songs, BLAME IT ON HOBOKEN and more at music and arts venues and private events. And she’s always up for a fun collaboration! How did a nice girl from the Philly burbs get to a lovely, music-fueled place like this? Trained as a journalist at Columbia University, Sharon found her true beat entertaining audiences with stories and songs on stage, page and radio. BLAME IT ON HOBOKEN sets a funny, modern love story with a touch of math and mystery in Frank Sinatra’s hometown. Two tracks are COMBO songwriting contest prizewinners. Sharon lives in Northern Colorado.

Upstate Rubdown's REMEDY is the off-kilter a capella of “Ball Rolling,” the lively mandolin opening of “No Slack” and “Bad Enough”, described as the Jackson 5 covering “Express Yourself.” Notably, “Nobody” features one of the world's greatest living jazz cats, saxman Joe Lovano!

On a Friday night in 2014, veteran Grammy-winning producer and recording artist, Jason Miles, and his wife Kathy dropped by The Falcon in Marlboro NY. The moment he heard Upstate Rubdown’s fresh, compelling vocal harmony/acoustic driven vibe, he felt the magic. Jason's casual night out resulted in a dynamic freewheeling adventure. Miles began discussions with Upstate's manager, Jim Kramer, a veteran agent to legendary bands. The result was a memorable collaboration to create their infectious full-length debut 'A Remedy'.
