The "Metropolitan Hot Club" is a gypsy jazz band that plays the hot swing of the 30s and 40s. Steeped in the gypsy jazz tradition, the group celebrates the music made popular by legendary guitarist, Django Reinhardt, and jazz violinist, Stephane Grappelli. An impressive repertoire of period music, along with newer favorites and a growing body of original compositions, make for an unforgettable listening, experience.  Alan "Chip" White has just released the fourth volume of his dedication series, Family Dedications and More, in December 2014 and it has quickly moved up to # 4 on the Jazz Chart.
The Dedications series began in 2008 with Double Dedication, followed by More Dedications (2009) and Personal Dedications & Percussive Tributes (2011). Each includes Chip's original compositions and poems for the jazz masters from his book I’m Just the Drummer in the Band.
Chip has performed and/or recorded with a variety of artists, including Carman McCrae, Jaki Byard, John Abercrombie, Frank Wess, Chet Baker, Jimmy McGriff, Houston Person and Etta Jones, and Savion Glover, among others and his Ensemble has recently performed at Dizzy's Coca Cola/Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Kitano, Sweet Rhythm, and the Lenox Lounge in New York City.

The First Lutheran Church hosts a delightful monthly concert the first Wednesday. I am the feature this month, and my set will be about 45 minutes.
I will play some acoustic slide instrumental guitar, and other fingerstyle guitar pieces, i.e. playing with one's fingers rather than a pick. There will also be a few humor songs, and two Celtic style finger picking songs with a guest vocalist. I have been to a number of the Lunch 'N Listen shows, and I am happy to be invited to play this time. It is always a fun way to spend a Wednesday afternoon.
Ryan O'Connor joins us the 1st Wednesday every month during Ladies Night! You'll love his sound... how he can take a classic Sinatra song and make you love it all over again.
