Singer Songwriter Tuesdays
with Patrick Daley
Acoustic
Rosendale Cafe
434 Main St
Rosendale, NY   See Map
This is always a fun night at the Rosendale Cafe. There are 6 performers from 8pm to 10pm. Given the time of year, most of my set will be Christmas Instrumental guitar music. You can hear a couple samples if you click my name above, or the "I Bring You Joy" links. (i.e. these are actually links to mp3s I have recorded). I may include one Christmas parody song I wrote as well.

Host John Huges is still working on the order, but the scheduled performers are: Eliza and Sophie, Phil Rose, Lannie Bolde, Patrick Daley (me), The Saxy Santas, and Wirtzian Revivalists.

The Cafe has a fantastic and reasonably priced vegetarian menu.

I hope to see you. Come on out!

Rebecca Martin has recorded a number of fine albums, most notably with jazz drummer Paul Motian. Ms. Martin accompanies herself on acoustic guitar and enlists top-flight musicians. Applying Motian's less-is-more ethic with her album "The Growing Season", created an enthusiastic response!

"...warm, unguarded voice, an instrument of modesty and forbearance..." - The New York Times

The album's success led to Best Folk/Singer-Songwriter Album at the Independent Music Awards and to headlining shows at the Village Vanguard NYC, making Martin the first singer-songwriter to perform at the jazz club in more than 30 years.

Rebecca's subsequent recordings have been released to critical acclaim, as has her collaboration, Tillery, with singer/songwriters Gretchen Parlato and Becca Stevens.

Rebecca has been a big part of the evolution of the Falcon. It is always an honor to have her in the house.

Vignola worked as a sideman for artists like Leon Redbone and Madonna, and led his famed Hot Club of France tribute band in New York City in the late 1980s. His virtuosity has made him a guitarist of choice for many musicians, including Ringo Starr, Donald Fagen, Wynton Marsalis, Tommy Emmanuel and Mark O' Connor.

An extremely versatile jazz guitarist, Frank Vignola has demonstrated his capabilities, playing everything from fusion and commercial pop-jazz to hard bop, post-bop, and swing. The native New Yorker has a wide variety of influences; from Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, and Pat Metheny to Django Reinhardt and Charlie Christian.

Matisyahu has come a long way since 2005 when he released his breakout album, Live at Stubb¡¯s (which reached #1 on the Reggae Albums Chart and #30 on the Billboard 200). Since then he has pushed himself dynamically and creatively, breaking with expectation at every turn and remaking his musical image with nearly every album. And his latest¡ªAkeda (Uh-©\kay-©\duh)¡ªis no different in this regard.

Akeda is depth and naturalness; it is by far Matisyahu¡¯s most personal album, and the one over which he has had the most creative control. Quoting Matisyahu, ¡°Akeda is the kind of album an artist makes when there is no other creative choice but to turn oneself inside-©\out, to scrape the insides and reveal everything raw¡±

"Mr. Cohen isn't the average hippie gone Wall Street, he's also a certifiably smokin' barrel house rumba boogie-woogie piano player in the James Booker/Professor Longhair/Dr. John vein." David Bennett Cohen has been a professional musician for more than 30 years. Best known for his innovative keyboard playing as an original member of the '60's rock band, Country Joe and the Fish, he is an equally accomplished guitar player who has been involved in numerous music scenes throughout his varied career. David began his musical education at the age of seven, studying classical piano for seven years. While studying the piano, he began to teach himself the guitar, beginning at the age of nine. When he was 14, he heard boogie-woogie piano for the first time and was hooked. Since then, he has explored many different styles of Blues and popular music.
