Ginia SiciliaThe FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
"Her smoky alto is a striking instrument, but the way she harnesses its earthy power reflects a maturity that's also found in her frank songwriting. The result is a combination of polished craft and gut-level emotion that is a knockout, and earns Sicilia the right to comparisons between herself and [Etta] James." - Philadelphia Inquirer

Gina Sicilia’s recent release of her stunning new album, It Wasn’t Real, is a watershed in the already extraordinary career of the young singer-songwriter whose 2007 debut, Allow Me to Confess, rocketed her to the upper echelon of the blues world. Its 10 songs showcase her evolution as a lyricist, arranger and performer as they essay the mysteries of love and fate, effortlessly glide between genres — often within the same tune — and elicit deeply emotional performances that expose the full range of her vocal abilities.

Marlboro, NY   See Map
“With a mix of D.I.Y. attitude, guitar proficiency, and songwriting skills modeled after Cat Power and Exile in Guyville-era Liz Phair, Emily Easterly made her debut in 2001 with the self-released Assembling Emily.

Featuring collaborations with several of Easterly’s hometown heroes (including Sparklehorse’s Alan Weatherhead and Cracker guitarist Johnny Hickman), the record was issued during the songwriter’s final weeks of high school in Richmond, VA. The following months saw Easterly relocating several hours south to study music at the University of Miami, where she released Cole in 2002 and garnered support from college radio.

Seasons Never Change followed in 2005, boasting an intimate, stripped-down sound that reflected upon the singer’s four-year stay in sunny Miami, and Easterly subsequently moved to Brooklyn to pursue her craft full-time.

Ed Palermo is not a “business as usual” musician. His Big Band may deliver Zappa, Hendrix, Rundgren, Paul Butterfield & Mike Bloomfield or one of Ed’s own compositions, with lush turns and twists.

Ed’s interpretation of the music of iconoclastic composer Frank Zappa has brought him wide recognition. His first CD of this material, “the ed palermo big band plays the music of frank zappa”, garnered rave reviews. Downbeat magazine gave “the ed palermo big band plays the music of frank zappa” a 4-star review. Palermo’s second CD of Zappa material, entitled “Take Your Clothes Off When You Dance” has been received with equal enthusiasm from publications all over the world, including another rave from Downbeat.

The latest release, 'Oh No! Not Jazz!!' consists of two albums - the first explores Ed's distinctive interpretations of Frank Zappa's work and works from original Mothers Of Invention. The second album features Ed's own riotous, colorful compositions.
