His songs are inhabited by interesting characters drawn from Daniel's life, family and friends: the vagabond running off with a tiny circus to tour the West; an aging Viet Nam veteran looking back with surprise at his departed youth; a young rancher inheriting his grandfather's nearly worn out rangeland and hoping he can hold on and live up to the legacy; a passenger on Flight 93 calling his wife to say goodbye – and his finger-picked guitar and banjitar support a good, clear tenor voice that evokes his characters' emotions perfectly.

Friday 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm | Celebrate "The Prime Of Mr. Hugh Brodie"! with Hugh Brodie's 81st Birthday Bash! Jazz | The FALCON 1348 Route 9W Marlboro, NY See Map |
Brodie is a sax player who gets right down to the true nitty gritty. An artist who coaxes every ounce of emotion from his instrument as only a true jazz player can. He is spiritual beyond words in his approach to his craft and even in brief conversation. Brodie emerges as a courteous and affable gentleman - “cool," in the context of an old-school jazzman who knows his stuff like an artisan of another time.In the 80's Brodie landed a gig with one of his heroes, Illinois Jacquet. But, after only a few years with Jacquet, Brodie decided that he needed to play his own music. He has since created two CD's, "Unforgettable Sax" and "Songs For Anu." He has studied astral projection and applied it to music. This combination of astrology and music has made "Unforgettable Sax" very popular in Europe. He has developed his own peaceful beliefs that have become integral to his music, centered around a "no hate" policy.

Saturday 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm | Bernard Purdie & Friends Soul, Funk | The FALCON 1348 Route 9W Marlboro, NY See Map |
Which musician did Aretha Franklin definitely NOT want missing from the line-up when she recorded her most inspired albums at the beginning of the seventies. Who provided the back-beat for Steely Dan's "Aja", and for whom have Isaac Hayes, Donny Hathaway, B.B. King, "Sweet" Lou Donaldson, Joe Cocker and Hank Crawford reserved that stool behind the drum kit? The list is incomplete; it must be, because no other drummer in the last three decades has seen the interior of a recording studio as often as Bernard "Pretty" Purdie. The 57 year-old native of Elkton, Maryland has laid down the beat on over 3000 albums to date. The legendary drummer's style is described as the "funkiest soul beat" in the business. Purdie has never limited his talents, but has consistently sought out new musical experiences, anchoring sessions with the Rolling Stones, James Brown and Tom Jones with equal ease. "DRIVE" and "GROOVE" are definitely not missing from his vocabulary.
