The group has convened for a recent residency at the famed Village Vanguard in New York City, adding more new repertoire to their book.

Jay Collins & The Kings County Band
Blues. Soul
The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Jay and the Kings County Band mix up Soul, New Orleans rhythms, and some Blues into a funky stew that surprises and satisfies. Along with being the sax player of choice for famous artists like Gregg Allman, Levon Helm, and Donald Fagen, Jay has also been moon-lighting as a singer/songwriter for years.

Jay fronts his Kings County Band on gigs throughout the region when he's not performing with the horn section at Levon Helm’s Ramble in Woodstock, or playing in The Dukes of September, a musical collective featuring Fagen, Boz Scaggs, and Michael McDonald. He is also the musical director for Greg Allman's band. Collins is proud of his past work with musicians like Ray LaMontagne, James Hunter, Bobby Sanabria, Jacky Terrasson, Andrew Hill, and Chris Bergson.

In an era where most learn to play music through an institution, Mr. Collins is one of those increasingly rare musicians who, for the most part, learned to play “on the bandstand”.

“He has a killer tone…”- Gregg Allman

CD Release! "Oh No! Not JAZZ!"
with Ed Palermo's Big Band
Jazz. Rock
The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
The Ed Palermo Big Band, an 18 piece ensemble of five woodwind players, four trumpeters, three trombonists, two keyboardists, guitar, violin, bass and drums, is led by alto saxophonist and arranger Ed Palermo, with much of the same personnel spanning 30 years, performing the music of Frank Zappa for 20 years. No one does it with the ease, skill and originality of Ed's band! An impressive feat in itself!

'Oh No! Not Jazz!!' consists of two albums - the first explores Ed's distinctive interpretations of Frank Zappa's work and works from original Mothers Of Invention. The second album features Ed's own riotous, colorful compositions, featured here for the first time in over 25 years!

This double album shows that, despite the financial and practical difficulties of running a very large band, there are many musical voices in a big band for showcasing arrangements. This is an exciting listen for fans of Frank Zappa and all adventurerers in rock and jazz music.

Daniel Boling is a folksinger/songwriter with a storyteller's eye for detail. His songs are inhabited by interesting characters drawn from Daniel's life, family and friends: the vagabond running off with a tiny circus to tour the West; an aging Viet Nam veteran looking back with surprise at his departed youth; a young rancher inheriting his grandfather's nearly worn out rangeland and hoping he can hold on and live up to the legacy; a passenger on Flight 93 calling his wife to say goodbye – and his finger-picked guitar and banjitar support a good, clear tenor voice that evokes his characters' emotions perfectly.

"A savvy, expressive singer with impeccable taste in collaborators."

-- Time Out New York

Monday night jazz sessions at Quinn's continues with the incomparable NYC vocalist, Andrea Wolper, joined by her accomplished trio, Ken Filiano on bass (returning for the second time to Quinn's, having performed with Karl Berger there in November) and Michael Howell on guitar. As with every Monday jazz session @ Quinn's, sets will begin at 8 PM and there is no cover charge at the door but donations for the musicians will be requested and gratefully accepted. Wolper's distinctively alluring vocals have distinguished her in a music that does not lack for distinctive vocals. From standards to originals, Wolper's remarkable artistry is immediately recognizable and undeniable. Joined by two major figures on the current jazz scene (and, in the case of Filiano, Wolper's husband), the experience of the Andrea Wolper Trio is at once thrilling, intimate and unforgettable.
