The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
New Jersey-based frontman, singer, & harmonica player Rob Paparozzi has been a blues performer since 1967, but he's far from being strictly a blues musician. In fact, he's at home playing a wide range of music, ranging from rock to blues to jazz to pop. This versatility is reflected in the long and remarkably diverse list of major artists Rob has worked with, including B.B.King, Dr. John, Bruce Springsteen, Whitney Houston, Carole King, Roberta Flack, Culture Club, Cyndi Lauper, Randy Newman, Jimmy McGriff, and James Galway.

Rob has toured the world with the “Original Blues Brothers Band”, featuring guitar legend Steve Cropper and special guest Eddie Floyd, and also as the lead singer for the legendary band "Blood Sweat and Tears."

RIVER SPIRIT MUSIC
Hastings-on-Hudson, NY   See Map
In a career that now spans two decades, New York duo Maura and Pete Kennedy have traversed a broad musical landscape, surveying power pop, acoustic songwriting, organic rock rooted in their early days in Austin, and a Byrds-inspired jangle that drew the attention of McGuinn, Steve Earle, and most notably Nanci Griffith. On their new release, "Closer Than You Know", The Kennedys strike out into new territory, this time inspired by a sojourn in Paris, where they immersed themselves in the turn of another century, the time when Debussy and Ravel were inventing the sonic palette of modern music.

Sunday Evening!
with Jeffery Broussard & The Creole Cowboys
Creole Zydeco
The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
One of the most influential accordionists and vocalists in modern Zydeco music, Jeffery Broussard continues to be one of the genre’s most dynamic performers. He has continually been an innovator, beginning his career with traditional Creole Zydeco music playing drums in his father’s band, Delton Broussard & The Lawtell Playboys, then moving on to develop the nouveau Zydeco sound in Zydeco Force, now returning to the more traditional Zydeco sound with his own band, Jeffery Broussard and The Creole Cowboys.

Whether he is playing a festival stage in front of thousands of dancers, a small theater of seated patrons, giving an interview, teaching a lesson or playing at a trailride, his warmth, love of the music, and talent shine. Jeffery Broussard is well, the real deal. Dedicated to preserving and promoting the Creole culture and traditional Zydeco music, Jeffery plays with passion and commitment to carry on his daddy’s legacy.

Bethel Steele
Americana, Singer-Songwriter
Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts
Online: www.wtbq.com or 93.5FM, NY   See Map
Bethel Steele is an Americana-inspired singer songwriter who calls Boston, MA home. Bethel’s smoky alto and playing style - which ranges from driving rhythm guitar to delicate finger-picking - evokes a wide range of emotions. Broken Record, is Bethel’s latest project, a stripped-down 5-song EP that captures the energy and intimacy of a live performance and showcases the songwriter’s raw emotive vocals and introduces a new musical family member: the 5-string banjo! Of Love and Whiskey, Bethel’s 2012 full-length release, was described as “deep and inspired” by Italian reviewer Remo Ricaldone. John Apice, a reviewer for NoDepression.com says this about Bethel’s writing: “Steele knows how to tell a great story, adorn it in bright musical colors and deliver confidently [with a] deep, beautiful cognac flavored voice surrounded by a wealth of original material. Bethel is confident and sings with authority... Bethel has a pencil sharpened and sees what many other artists seem to miss.”

Matuto! "The Heights of World Music!"The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
In Brazil, Matuto is slang for Country Boy, but this NYC based group of urbanized virtuosos is emerging as one of the world’s hottest international touring acts. Recently awarded the title of “American Musical Ambassadors” by the U.S. State Department, Matuto has been hailed as "seductively cross cultural" by the Chicago Tribune, and praised by the Sun Times as "the height of world music sophistication.” As another critic recently admired, "there is without a doubt nothing else out there like it."

Matuto’s songs can sway hips as easily as spark insights. Drawing on Brazil’s folkloric rhythms like forró and coco, and on deep Americana—from bluegrass to spirituals to swamp jams—Matuto uses unexpected Pan-American sonic sympathies to craft appealing, roosty, yet philosophical tales of love, self-discovery, and true peace.
