Sunday Brunch!
with Saints of Swing w/ Marty Elkins, David Winograd, Mike Rosler, Marty Elkins, Dale Demarco, Ken Foy, Mike Kull, Gene Randolph
Dixieland, Gospel, and Latin. Motown, R&B, Ballroom, Klezmer
The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
The Saints of Swing are an extraordinary collective of some of the tri-state area's finest musicians with an eclectic, electric groove of foot-tappin' Swing classics - from Dixieland, elegant NYC sizzlers, Motown, R&B, Ballroom, Gospel, Latin, & Klezmer! Led by David Winograd on tuba/bass and Mike Rosler on trumpet, and featuring sultry vocalist Marty Elkins. The ensemble includes Dale Demarco on sax/clarinet, Ken Foy, trombone, Mike Kull, piano, and Gene Randolph, drums.

Marty Elkins is a force to be reckoned with as she weaves her way in and out of up tempo songs, ballads, bossa novas, and swing tunes. Marty is equally comfortable with a swinging seven piece band as she is with an intimate trio. Ron Della Ciesa, of WGBH/Boston says of her latest release, “Marty reminds me of some of the classic big band singers like Rosemary Clooney and Anita O’Day.” “She’s a staunch traditionalist who polishes songs, then wears ’em proudly,” states Jeff Levinson from Hot House Jazz Magazine.

The members of the Peekskill-based band UNI, hail from the islands and blend the Bob Marley style with the more modern dance hall sound.

Dar Chi, the groups bass player says that "Reggae is the indigenous music. When you come here you don't want to leave your vernacular or colloquial sayings at home; that's prevalent in the music. A lot of our songs are social and reflect what's happening in the community. Some of us are Rastafarians, so there are some radical political connotations."

A portion of tonight's proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross's relief efforts for victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

Brian Collazo of Live Society and Lexi Lawson from the cast of Rent are longtime friends that grew up in Orange County, NY. Last year, they hatched the idea of putting on a cool Christmas show back home and donating a portion of the proceeds to families affected by hurricane Sandy. The show was a sold-out, standing room only, smash success! This year, they have invited, once more, the all-star line-up of Hudson Valley & NYC artists to sit in, jam out, and duet the night away for an intimate, jazzed out Christmas bash. Check out their amazing band and special guests!

Ed Palermo's Big Band, featuring Napoleon Murphy BrockThe FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Ed Palermo is not a “business as usual” musician. After all, when most people think of “big bands” they think of Duke and Dorsey. But go to see Ed Palermo’s Big Band and you might hear Zappa, Hendrix, the blues of Paul Butterfield & Mike Bloomfield or one of Ed’s own compositions.

Gil Evans wonderfully articulated Palermo’s unusual approach to traditional instrumentation: “I first heard Ed Palermo’s music in a small club in the SoHo section of Manhattan. He was using the instrumentation of a traditional big band yet his arrangements & songs were anything but that. When I thought the music was going a certain direction, it would suddenly turn a corner...”

American singer, saxophonist & flute player, Napoleon Murphy Brock, is best known for his work with Frank Zappa in the 1970s, including the albums One Size Fits All, Roxy & Elsewhere, & Bongo Fury. His own most memorable vocal accomplishments are illustrated on the songs "Village of the Sun" & "Florentine Pogen.".

Music For Humanity Free Performance Night
with Patrick Daley, John Sheehan, John Desibia & Peter Cotsis
Acoustic. Christmas Guitar Instrumentals
Noble Coffee Roasters

Campbell Hall, NY   See Map
I am honored to be invited by Barry Adelman, co-founder of MFH, to perform a half hour set in their monthly showcase. I'll do guitar instrumental Christmas music, mostly my own arrangements.

Barry always has a great lineup for these shows, and I'm happy to see fingerstyle wizard John Sheehan on the bill! Fingerstyle is playing with 3 or 4 fingers rather than a guitar pick, and that 's my favorite style as well. Sometimes it sounds like 2 guitars when it's just solo. I haven't heard J.Desibia /P.Cotsis yet, but again, Barry selects enjoyable performers, so I look forward to it.

Music for Humanity is a non-profit organization that provides music education scholarships to students in need. There is no charge for the performance night, but if you can donate a few dollars toward the scholarships, it is appreciated. This will be a very musical and fun evening, and we hope to see you there!

Romance and Passion: LA SOUL

Motown/R&B, Blues, and Gospel
BeanRunner Cafe
201 S. Division Street @ Esther
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Combine Barry White, Teddy Pendergrass and James Brown, and you get LA's signature style - "old school romance" and fiery funk! His unique registry, being a bass/baritone singer, brings passion and fire to the romantic songs that are an important part of his musical experience.

The fervor and spiritual connections felt by his audiences is matched only by his ability to become "one" with his soulful, heart pounding funk. A celebratory aura is seen in his outlook on life and is evident in his performances.

LA has performed with the legendary Intruders as well as on many "Motown Review" assignments. He is currently the bass/ baritone singer and co-founder of "Tradition", a wonderful "classic soul" cover singing group.

LA has been a radio personality on his own "Quite Storm" show on 91.1 WOSS in New York and has been seen in commercials, and on documentaries for public and commercial television.
