 Mala Waldron is a prolific songwriter as well as an accomplished pianist/vocalist based in the New York City area. She has performed internationally in such places as France, Italy, Japan, China, Malaysia, Belgium and most recently Russia.
Her CDs include "He's My Father" (duo with father, jazz pianist/composer Mal Waldron,) "Lullabye" (tribute to her godmother, Billie Holiday) and her most recent "Always There" which, in addition to being her first U.S. release, was also licensed by Columbia Records in Japan and voted one of the "Top 20 Jazz CDs of 2006" by Jazz USA.
Equally captivating on vocals as on piano, she has been compared to the likes of Nina Simone, Diana Krall and Roberta Flack as her appeal is broad. She clearly draws inspiration from the various genres of music she was exposed to as a child. with the strongest influence coming from her jazz roots. |

Drew is an accomplished singer, guitarist, violinist and bass player, and one of our favorite artists. But, among all his accomplishments, Drew is first and foremost a songwriter. He has composed dozens of songs and performed at an impressive list of venues, including Boston's the Middle East and Sanders Theater, and NYC's the Bitter End, Ace of Clubs and CBGB (and let's not forget 12 Grapes!)
Selena is also a talented guitarist, vocalist and songwriter. We first met Selena as a young teen, and she's grown to be an outstanding performer. Both Selena and Drew will be singing many of their original tunes tonight, as well as some choice covers.

Drummer and Grammy nominee Matt Wilson is a celebrated jazz artist universally recognized for his style as a drummer, composer, bandleader, producer, and teaching artist. Matt’s energy, humor and broad range of musical have established him as a beloved world ambassador for the music.  If you took your copies of Deja Vu, Bookends, Full Moon Fever and Disraeli Gears and melted them into one L.P. it might sound like Lost Leaders, the alchemical brew of Peter Cole and Byron Isaacs.
The project was born at Levon Helm's studio in Woodstock, N.Y. in the winter of 2011.
Peter and Byron took a week between Saturday Rambles and worked out original tunes with Grammy-winning house engineer Justin Guip running back and forth from drum kit to console. As the record neared completion they performed the material for the first time by opening a Midnight Ramble.
While waiting to release the resulting record, Lost Leaders created a series of live performance videos covering some of their favorite material (including their own). Their two voices and two guitars contrast with the lushness of the studio recordings. Their arrangements of songs by Beck, Pete Pete Townsend, Neil Young and Tom Petty illustrate their haunting vocal blend and instrumental ingenuity. |

 Each of the members of Lines of Reason have had illustrious carreers, performing as band leaders as well as playing with such greats as Sonny Fortune, McCoy Tyner, Hannibal, Marvin Peterson, and Clark Terry. These five friends now come into their own, with this exciting and creative collaboration, where each player has equal input.
Bassist Marcus Mclaurine toured and recorded with Kenny Burrell and Clark Terry,
among others, following a stint in the Air Force Marching Band.
Master drummer Alan Nelson, is in high-demand for his intense energy and hyper-sensitivity.
Alto saxophonist Joe Ford has earned a reputation for his work with the great pianist McCoy Tyner.
Trombonist Clifford Adams has been a member of the highly successful R&B band called Kool and the Gang.
And, the force behind the Lines of Reason nexus, is veteran pianist/composer Michael Cochrane, who has worked with Sonny Fortune, Eddie Gomez and a host of other greats.

The next Monday night jazz session at Quinn's will present two of the most talented and experienced multi-instrumentalists at work today, Kali. Z Fasteau and lee mixashawn rozie. With Fasteau on keyboard, drum set, voice, ney flutes and mizmar and Rozie on tenor and soprano saxophones, flute and djembe, the duo possesses an enormous arsenal of instruments that is truly global in scope with which they create extraordinary sonic explorations without boundary. And given their mutual experience performing and recording with some truly legendary musicians -- including such names as Donald Rafael Garrett, Archie Shepp, Rashied Ali, William Parker, Oliver Lake, Joseph Jarman, Ronald Shannon Jackson, Joe McPhee, Vernon Reid, among many others -- this performance is sure to be one of the most remarkable evenings in the series. As with all Monday jazz sessions at Quinn's, here will be no cover charge at the door, though donations for the artists will be requested and gratefully accepted.
