Marlboro, NY   See Map
Sleeping Bee is the new musical endeavor of longtime friends and multi-instrumentalists, Lindsey Horner and Andy Goessling. Their debut self-produced recording, Heyday Maker, showcases their wide range of musical expertise and a depth of feeling gathered from years of experience. Valued friend and percussionist, Randy Crafton, adds his artistry to the proceedings.

With Heyday Maker completed and released, Andy, Lindsey and Randy have been working on new material and have excitingly expanded the concept by adding singer and guitarist, Timothy Hill. Timothy is a unique artist who specializes in harmonic singing whereby two or more notes can be sung at once - as well as the more conventional types of singing.

The music of Sleeping Bee exists in that unique early 21st century area where Folk, Jazz, Celtic song forms, melodic improvisation, and original ideas all happily co-exist and vitalize each other – Alt Folk Jazz Celt Grass, to coin a term.

Roy Buchanan 1939-1988 (http://www.allmusic.com/artist/roy-buchanan)

Buchanan's reputation as a hot-shot guitarist extends back to the beginnings of rock & roll itself. On the road and recording with Dale Hawkins by his teens, Buchanan became the law of the land around the Washington, D.C., area by the mid-to-late '60s. His use of the Fender Telecaster, using high harmonic squeals in place of feedback and distortion, was part and parcel of rock guitar's vocabulary by the early '70s. In 1960 Roy Buchanan replaced Fred Carter Jr. as guitarist in Ronnie Hawkins' Hawks. After a short period, he left the Hawks and teenager Robbie Robertson took over the lead guitar. Buchanan, one of Robertson's main guitar influences, also performed as an opening act for the reunited Band on their 1987 tour. A reluctant superstar, Buchanan's unique stylings remain etched into his best records. He was a consummate guitarist, capable of tones and techniques that other guitarists only dream of.

Pat wrote and performed songs all her adult life, though she slowed down for awhile in that department while pursuing a career and raising three children. Now retired, she is devoting more time than ever to her "hobby." Her songs have been praised highly by Pete Seeger, Peter Yarrow, David Roth, and others. They have a strong folk influence, and cover issues such as peace, religion and the environment, and many personal topics as well. Rick studied flute, guitar, piano and voice at the University of Bowling Green, Ohio and at Nazareth College of Rochester, New York. He worked his way around Europe several times, singing on cruise ships, in public squares and at cafes and restaurants. He was a regular entertainer at several grand-style resorts throughout New York and New England. The late Dewey Balfa once said "A culture is like a tree, you have to water the roots, but you can't go cutting off the branches every time the tree tries to grow". Well, Racines (which means "roots" in French) both waters the roots and stretches outward. A collaborative project of three gentlemen who are all well-known Cajun musicians in their own right, Racines explores the varying musical traditions that call Southwest Louisiana home: Cajun music, Zydeco, blues and more. Their only self-titled cd release garnered a Grammy nomination in 2007.

STEVE RILEY, of Mamou Louisiana, is a widely acknowledged master of the Cajun accordion and its singularly powerful sound. KEVIN WIMMER has been playing fiddle since the tender age of three. He performed frequently with Dewey Balfa and learned the essence of the tradition directly from him. CHRIS STAFFORD is a musician and producer/recording engineer based in Lafayette, LA. He is a four time grammy nominee.

Grammy award winning artist Shunzo Ohno is a "brilliant trumpet stylist" whose playing and original compositions have touched millions. A versatile musician who has played, recorded and toured with such renowned leaders as Gil Evans, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Art Blakey, and many others. Mr. Ohno has 16 recordings under his own name as a leader and has appeared on over thirty more as a sideman.

Born in Gifu, Japan, Shunzo's career hit high gear when toured with Art Blakey‘s Jazz Messengers. The compelling Latin energy in Shunzo's playing can be linked to his tenure with the celebrated Machito and his Afro-Cuban Orchestra and he recorded the Grammy Award-winning album with Machito and His Salsa Big Band (1983).

Shunzo then joined master arranger and composer Gil Evans, becoming a key contributor on recordings, including the 1988 Grammy Award-winning "Live at Sweet Basil". Shunzo made a total of four recordings with Evans, who remained a lifelong mentor to him.

“This is electric blues with an eclectic and somewhat demented spin. The group’s sense of humor is as much to be appreciated as their hard-rocking, guitar-heavy sound. They sound pretty damn good on the CD, a tight power trio that can get into a driving groove and stay there.” Philip Farber,Kingston Freeman

“The Outpatients are cool musical dudes. The guys make riffin’, rockin,’ fun music that sounds like a cross between Chuck Berry and a funkier version of those early Beatles, or least the Dave Clark Five.” Stephen Israel, The Times Herald Record
