Not all FUNK is created equal. Sometimes something’s missing; a beat with no syncopation, bass with no grooooooooove, vocals with no soul; leaving the listener with a severe case of Honky-Pox. To guard against this, we recommend a soul vaccination administered by the Funk Junkies.

After 3 years putting the Funk Junkies together with some of New York's best musical talent, we can assure you they are specialists. This 14-piece band with a 5-piece horn section lays down the funk! Check them out to cure what ails you!

In the changing musical scene of America's post-war years, Jazz musicians started working in smaller combos, Blues and Country artists began experimenting with amplification, Gospel music began to make its way out of the churches, and boutique record labels presented new voices to a growing audience of citified music lovers. Out of these voices came a slew of new sounds that all shared an energetic and entertaining embrace of good times and great tunes, and together laid the foundation for the Rock & Roll revolution.

Shorty King's Clubhouse plays the music of this era as if they were there, rocking and jumping with Louis Jordan, Ray Charles, Louis Prima and more. Throw in some 3- and 4-part harmonies, some straight-up Jazz and a smattering of Rockabilly and New Orleans sounds, and you've got a rollicking revue of great American music.

with The Paintings of David Borenstein
The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
David is an artist who has worked in almost every medium, and can make almost anything his medium. From the structural steel in his welded sculpture to the six-pack liners utilized in his paintings, “found objects” find their way into much of his work.

In many of the works in this show, he goes beyond “repurpose” to the point of “reincarnation”; bringing his bold expression to life in both color and form.

And as a sculptor and architect, David resists the boundaries of dimension even in his paintings and photographs. He refuses to exist in a 2D world.

David brings his artist’s sensibility to his architecture and building practice; he is known for designing residences and commercial spaces that are not only energy-efficient, but also hallmarked by his hand-finished original touches.

David has a BS and an MFA from Bard College and a Master of Architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Saxophonist-composer Adam Larson began playing saxophone at the age of 11. Described by critic Howard Reich of the Chicago Tribune as "a player for whom the word 'prodigious' was coined", and by Peter Hum of the Ottaw Citizen as "a saxophonist who brings Donny McCaslin and Mark Turner to mind", Larson has garnered numerous awards. As the leader of his own quintet, Larson recently released his debut album "Simple Beauty". The quintet has performed at the Jazz Gallery, the Blue Note, Smalls, Cornelia St Café, the Kitano, JALC, and serveral others.

Having been fortunate to have worked with many musicians over the past years, Larson's quintet includes those deeply invested in the music and his vision: pianist Can Olgun, bassist Chris Talio, drummer Jason Burger, and guitarist Nils Weinhold. "I want my music to connect with as many people as I can. I’m hopeful that the music on this album will have a little something for everyone."
