jB's soul-Jazz Brunch!!!
with Jeremy Baum, Myles Mancuso, Joel Rosenblatt
Blues, Jazz, and Rock (classic). Soul-Jazz
the Falcon
1348 Rte 9w
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Join us for some tasty soul-jazz and brunch at the Falcon in Marlboro!! Jb (Hammond Organ) toured for over 6 years with Grammy nominated singer Shemekia Copeland. With musical prodigy Myles Mancuso on guitar/vocals and acclaimed drummer Joel Rosenblatt (Spyro Gyra, Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, Oz Noy!)

Both traditional and trailblazing...Highly recommended. ***Blues Review Magazine***

Baum's playing has a deep funk to it, with a big influence of Jimmy Smith. And Baum also brings in all kinds of other things as well - dissonant jazz, alternative rock, R&B. He's not too far off from what John Medeski does with Medeski, Martin and Wood, but with more of a blues streak to it. ***Jim Trageser. Escondido, Calif. ***

Voted one of the “most wanted new artists" at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival

Pot-luck dinner 1 hour before show – bring a dish! This is Trina's only NYC area appearance this year and our last show of the season!

Headlined at the Ann Arbor Folk Festival Headlined at the Houston Women's Music Festival Performed to sold out crowds at The Newport Folk Festival

Trina Hamlin combines gentle understanding with raw emotion in a way that is, quite simply, captivating from the first note. With a rich, powerful voice, Hamlin reveals a rare confluence of Midwestern innocence, contemplative focus, and raw passion while adding a disarmingly sharp wit in her stage banter. She seamlessly moves from guitar to piano with self-accompaniment on harmonica leaving many who have seen her wondering what she can't do. Regarded as one of the best harmonica players around, Trina presents a driving, sensuous rhythm in her performance, reawakening audiences to the art of of the instrument.

N.Y.C. born Steve March-Torme is the son of singer/performer Mel Tormé and the stepson of TV-host/actor Hal March, so there’s definitely a healthy dose of show business DNA in his genes. In the late 1970's, Steve recorded his first LP, Lucky, for United Artists Records, supporting it with a well received 20 city, national concert tour. Upon returning to California, he produced and sang on Liza Minnelli's Columbia Records release Tropical Nights, which became a favorite of the New York dance clubs. He has since released 4 more jazz oriented CDs: Swingin’ At The Blue Moon Bar & Grille, The Night I Fell For You, The Essence of Love and So Far.

Steve has entertained in every venue from intimate jazz clubs to Performing Arts Centers to festivals worldwide (Australia, England, Japan, Canada, to name a few).

His 2012 series of concerts in London were so successful, he’s been asked to come back and perform again this July (2013).

1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
After years of circling one another among mutual friends and colleagues on the New York creative music scene, Halvorson and Crump met in 2011 and immediately made plans to collaborate. From the very first notes, it has been a magical connection. All those notes can be heard on their Intakt debut, Super Eight, released in February 2013.

Guitarist/composer Mary Halvorson has been active in New York since 2002, following jazz studies at Wesleyan University and the New School. Critics have called Ms. Halvorson “NYC’s least-predictable improviser” (Howard Mandel, City Arts) “the most forward-thinking guitarist working right now” (Lars Gotrich, NPR.org)

Memphis-bred, Grammy-nominated bassist/composer Stephan Crump is a rising light on the New York music scene. He has become known for the elegance and purposeful groove of his acoustic and electric bass playing, and for transforming his instrument into a speaking entity with magnetic pull on audiences.

Johnny AThe FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Johnny A. has one of the most eloquent voices in modern music - and he doesn't sing a note. Instead, he channels joy, love, humor, sadness... every aspect of the human experience, through his guitar.

Only the finest musicians have the ability to capture the nuances of life in sound, which puts Johnny in a very exclusive group of six-stringers that includes Les Paul, Wes Montgomery, Jeff Beck, Chet Atkins, and Jimi Hendrix. The secret is his blend of melody, sonic definition, technique and that indefinable-yet-tangible quality called "soul."

And he's eloquently shared that secret on the CDs Sometime Tuesday Morning (2001), Get Inside (2004), and the instructional DVD Taste, Tone, Space (2006), which are approaching combined sales of 150,000 copies. All the virtues of Johnny A.'s playing are in abundant display on One November Night, a brand new DVD/CD set recorded live at Scullers in his hometown of Boston, MA.

"This is not reviewers hype... this guy is flat out good," Rodger Nichols of The Dalles Oregon Chronicle   From the first strum of his 1948 Gibson, through stories of Polish farmers, milkwood poetry, Tinian Island, Dylan Thomas, Taoist parables, ex slaves and drunken roosters you'll be drawn in and deeply moved by his music and stories.

He’ll sing to you~ You’ll sing with him… His music embraces the universal, connects us, is masterful and downright fun.

Come early for dinner and an amazing night of music!

Music on another level...
with Drew Bordeaux
Acoustic, Rock (modern)
12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Drew Bordeaux has many fans. 12 Grapes is one of his biggest.

Whether playing solo with an acoustic guitar or screaming Hendrix-style riffs on a violin, Drew never fails to captivate and entertain an audience. His original tunes weave classic Rock and Blues with today's Pop and Alternative styles to create music that is rich, moving, and relentlessly catchy.

NY music reviewer Kevin Johnston wrote, "His guitar work is the real deal... A lot of players have forgotten what the rock solo is for, but Drew knows and he uses it to take the music to a new level. And just to make sure you stay interested, he switches to electric violin."

Despite all of his achievements, Drew is first and foremost a songwriter. He has composed dozens of songs performed at an impressive list of venues. Drew's first EP, "Live Your Way", has deeply personal lyrics and catchy melodies.

The group was founded by songwriter and lead vocalist, Carmen Yates. Growing up in the stark landscape of Maryland's Eastern Shore and surrounded by a family of musicians, Carmen was inspired and encouraged at an early age to write and perform his own songs. After moving to New York City, he continued performing and touring throughout the United States. When Carmen finally joined forces with his long time music partner and producer, Thor Jonsson, RACING RAIN was officially born. New York newbie and classically trained upright bassist, Ali Cook, proved to be equally comfortable with classical bowing or bluegrass plucking. Along with her strong vocals, superb ear and harmonizing skills Ali has become a key component of the band's signature sound. Newest member, Christina "Ninja" Kim, first met the group in the studio where she was asked to sing on one of the songs being recorded for the new album.

OPENING ACT
with RoseAnn Fino
Singer-Songwriter. Guitarist
The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
You could say RoseAnn Fino grew up in the sticks, on a farm far enough away from any town, but close enough to New York City that she could feel its pull from an early age. Her parents were avid fans of ole country standards and rock’n’roll. She grew up in nightclubs and concert halls, following musicians that would be her idols when she got older. When she was five her father put a guitar in her hands and eighteen years later she still hasn’t put it down.

RoseAnn headed to New York City when she was seventeen. There she found her voice as a songwriter, while keeping her country roots. She graduated from Hunter College with a degree in music and writing. Today, she lives in Queens with her friends and a black cat named Luna, writing songs by day and slinging drinks by night as a bartender.

She is currently gigging around the city and finishing up her first album, produced by Professor Louie, which will be released later this year on Woodstock Records.
