The song-writing team of Erin Hobson and Steven Ross churn out songs that surprise. This one-of-a-kind ensemble weaves tapestries of musical fare with unexpected depth and sensitivity. The duet’s live show is uplifting and textured - combining musical styles into a sound that’s totally new. Hobson has performed nationally, opening for Blue Oyster Cult, Hoobastank, The Bret Michael Band, Dave Mason and Jakob Dylan. She is known for her poetic lyrics, masterful guitar technique and unique vocal quality is intimate while her guitar virtuosity and explosive phrasing is anything but soft. The combination often startles Multi-instrumentalist; Ross has scored and played for radio, TV and film, including two original songs in the 2010 Sundance award-winning mock rockumentary “Colin Fitz Lives!” Steven’s arrangements and “never sag, never brag” bass lines are inventive, unique melodic grooves that define The Compact’s sound. | ||

The High Falls Cafe launches it's 2013 series of "Jazz At The Falls" Sunday brunches with special guests "The Teri Roiger Trio".Singer, lyricist, pianist and educator, Teri Roiger's uniquely compelling vocal style, is full of soul, swing, sincerity and sass. She's worked with celebrated jazz artists such as Jack DeJohnette, James Weidman, Steve Williams, Frank Kimbrough, Warren Bernhardt, John Menegon, Kenny Burrell, Matt Wilson, Dewey Redman, and Gil Goldstein. Teri will no doubt be performing several selections from her critically acclaimed CD "Dear Abbey" - The music of Abbey Lincoln. Accompanying Teri will be bassist John Menegon & drummer Dave Berger. Jason’s band, The Tall Boys, are a throwback to the heyday of
Yoakam’s Babylonian Cowboys – a 5-piece outfit that can make you holler or make you
weep from one track to the next. Guitars, pedal steel, keys, drums and bass
complement Jason’s lyrics and voice the way a hand-picked band should. Jason has
been a mainstay on the Hudson Valley live music scene for over decade – first in one
of the region’s most beloved cover bands, Maria’s Basement, and then as a founding
member of the alt.country band, The Woodcocks. With his solo career taking off fast,
Jason has already shared the stage with the likes of James Otto, Jimmy Wayne, Easton
Corbin, Billy Currington, Blackberry Smoke, Ryan Bingham, to name a few. Old Stone

Orchestra, Frank Wess, Jimmy Heath, Slide Hampton, Charles McPherson, the late
Percy Heath, Teo Macero, Joe Lovano, Eric Reed, Ivan Lins, Jon Hendricks, Madeline
Peyroux, Steve Jordan, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Mary J.
Blige, and Alicia Keys among others, and is the regular trombonist for the Broadway

David Johansen began his career as the singer of the protopunk band the New York
Dolls in the early '70s. Johansen then embarked on a solo career, performing
frequently with Sylvain Sylvain. Two solo albums, 'David Johansen' and' In Style'
delivered some standout tracks. "Frenchette" and "Funky But Chic" became associated
with the Dolls, although they first appeared on the solo albums.Johansen turned his attention to country blues with the release of 'David Johansen
and the Harry Smiths' and also reunited with New York Dolls members in 2005,David
continues to host David Johansen's Mansion of Fun, a weekly radio show on Sirius.Multi-instrumentalist, Brian Koonin, who has been with David through projects
including the NewYork Dolls and The Harry Smiths will accompany David on guitar

Andy Stack and Tania Elizabeth found each other in NYC and each knew they had found their match. A duo was born. Both are highly respected for their abilities to listen and respond, and have been in demand as sidemen. The sound of Tania Elizabeth’s fiddle is unmistakable - ghostly bowing, the electric, Hendrix-inspired wails and driving tunes come from a young woman rooted in Traditional music, unafraid to take it to the edge.
Guitar in hand, Andy Stack has toured the US and Europe, and showcased his skills in festivals from Bonnaroo to the Toronto and Montreal Jazz Festivals. Andy has toured, recorded with Jonah Smith, Les Nubians, NY Ska Jazz Ensemble, Duncan Sheik, Suzanne Vega among others. He’s also opened for Martin Sexton, Madeline Peyroux, Little Feat,Los Lobos, Charlie Hunter, Taj Mahal. Recently Andy has opened for Dar Williams and Guy Davis in support of his release: “Like A Light”. | ||

Guitarist Del Casale has been Maestro Carlos Barbosa-Lima’s duo partner since 2003, appeared on WNYC, Sound check, and performed three times at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. The New York Times calls Del Casale "a solid, musicianly player who performs eloquently".Master Guitarist Tony Romano has toured internationally with many notable Latin, Jazz, and Pop/Broadway artists including Joe Bataan, Dave Valentine, Candido Camero, and Yomo Toro, among others. Just Jazz Guitar Magazine wrote "His tone is beautiful and soulful, and his remarkable technique is a servant to his rich musical imagination and broad harmonic palette". | MOPCO brings its unique brand of improv to Proctors -- Friday nights at 8:00pm. Created by Kat Koppett in association with Freestyle Repertory Theatre in New York, Spontaneous Broadway is a virtouso evening of musical improv. The audience submits titles of "songs that have never been written". In a fictional "backer's audition", these titles inspire improvised songs in act one. In act two, the audience's favorite song serves as the basis of an entire (45 minute) Broadway musical, complete with costumes and set. | With a solid consort of personal angst and melancholia, paired with subtle dialogues among unlikely lovers, Shane Loverro is indubitably headed for an adventurous career. Prolific in his own encapsulated nature, he finds his muse, tucks himself away, and then he does what he knows best. He writes. His record, Never This Far Down, which was recorded in SoHo and Brewster, NY was completed in April of 2012, just in time for his 24th birthday. The record displays the range of his many influences as well as the magnitude of his apparent originality. Misha Piatigorsky’s unusual harmonic sensitivity gives his sound a cosmopolitan dimension, reflecting his experience as a Russian-Jewish émigré growing up in urban America. He has toured extensively across Europe, North and South America, Australia and Japan.
Born in Moscow in 1967, Boris Kozlov studied at State Academy of Music while touring USSR, Europe and USA with various jazz groups. Winning many awards along the way.

| The Poughkeepsie Chapter of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild continues its 2012-2013 coffee house series on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at the Unitarian Fellowship, South Randolph Ave., Poughkeepsie. The coffeehouse performances start at 7:30 pm with an open-mic format followed by featured performer, Kathy Moran. Kathy Moran is a singer songwriter whose songs touch the heart and tickle the funny bone. They range from storytelling and ballads to spirituals, the blues and parodies. Kathy accompanies herself on guitar primarily but also adds a bit of djembe and dulcimer to her performances. For Kathy, writing songs is a way to connect with people. She writes about life's lessons, dreams and stories. Her songs have been covered as far away as Ireland, where a band is currently performing one of her songs about an Irish woman who decided at age 106 that she wanted to get married!
