 This is a very special show in memory of a very special person, one Wendell Hoff, who passed away earlier this year. Wendell was very kind and supportive to me, incredibly generous, and very honest and direct. I will always be grateful for his support and friendship. (He's the reason there is a Lullabies for Big Babies CD, since the record was made entirely at his request.)
He had mentioned to me the last time I saw him that he had wanted to host a concert, perhaps a house concert or something like that, and he hoped I'd be willing to perform at it along with some other folks he had in mind. But, of course I would!
Now, his son Jesse would like to move forward with Wendell's vision, and I am delighted and honored to be able to participate in this. It is a free event. |

 Each of the members of Lines of Reason have had illustrious carreers, performing as band leaders as well as playing with such greats as Sonny Fortune, McCoy Tyner, Hannibal, Marvin Peterson, and Clark Terry. These five friends now come into their own, with this exciting and creative collaboration, where each player has equal input.
Bassist Marcus Mclaurine toured and recorded with Kenny Burrell and Clark Terry,
among others, following a stint in the Air Force Marching Band.
Master drummer Alan Nelson, is in high-demand for his intense energy and hyper-sensitivity.
Alto saxophonist Joe Ford has earned a reputation for his work with the great pianist McCoy Tyner.
Trombonist Clifford Adams has been a member of the highly successful R&B band called Kool and the Gang.
And, the force behind the Lines of Reason nexus, is veteran pianist/composer Michael Cochrane, who has worked with Sonny Fortune, Eddie Gomez and a host of other greats.

 The Wickers Creek Band performs an eclectic mix of traditional American music, primarily in the Bluegrass tradition. The five-person group sings in close, blended harmonies backed up by varying combinations of fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar, dobro and bass. The band's repertoire includes classic and contemporary Bluegrass, country and Appalachian music, with a dollop of French Canadian, Celtic and New England dance tunes thrown in for good measure.

The Poughkeepsie Chapter of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild continues its 2012-2013 coffeehouse series on Saturday, October 20, 2012, at the Unitarian Fellowship, South Randolph Ave., Poughkeepsie. The coffeehouse performances start at 7:30 pm with an open mic format followed by the featured performers, John and Luanne Martucci.
John and Luanne Martucci are singer-songwriters who feature strong and warm vocals and some truly wonderful songs. John provides the harmonic foundation for the duo on both guitar and piano with Luanne adding guitar and percussion to her soaring vocals. A varied sound is one of the hallmarks of their performances. They will be performing some of their finest songs at their performance on October 20.

 Richard Levine is author of That Country’s Soul, A Language Full of Wars and Songs, Snapshots from a Battle, and most recently, A Tide of a Hundred Mountains. An activist and retired teacher, he spends most non-writing hours stewarding an agro-forest and working to block hydro-fracking in New York State.
Bertha Rogers's poems appear in journals and anthologies, and her collections include Even the Hemlock: Poems, Illuminations, Reliquaries (2005); The Fourth Beast (2004); and the recent Heart Turned Back, among others. She's the founding director of Bright Hill Press & Literary Center and the program director for the NYS Literary Web Site, nyslittree.org.
Nicholas Johnson is co-founder/editor of Big City Lit, (BigCityLit.com); a MacDowell Colony fellow, twice Pushcart Prize nominee, and winner of The Lyric Recovery Festival Award 2000 at Carnegie Hall. His poems have appeared in journals and his chapbook, Degrees of Freedom, is available from Bright Hill Press.

 THE-O could not speak when he was a small boy. Diagnosis: autism, PDD Pervasive Developmental Disorder. In music, he found a cure for his inner and outer chaos. Now, he sings plays guitar, banjo, piano, organ, drums, electric guitar, and Irish flute (tin whistle); arranges music, transposes songs from one instrument to another, and performs live and in the sound studio, all without a single music or voice lesson.
For THE-O, the magic of making music never fades; because only through his music can he speak to us from Planet Autism, where he really lives, all alone, but with an imperturbable faith that we will stop and listen. His music is a series of cries de Coeur; sorrowful, joyful, primitive, raw, true. His first CD, My Irish Journey, was issued in 2010; his second, SPACEMOODS, will release in late Fall, 2012. He has also played with renowned violinist, Daisy Jopling.

 Jimmy has been on the road as a solo musician for 15 years doing nearly 300 shows a year proving each night that he is still the guitar powerhouse in the blues.
Thackery has lived the life of a true road warrior; he's absorbed the artistic lessons of life and filtered them into his guitar playing and song writing. To get where he is today, Jimmy has journeyed a highway of life filled with a series of twists and turns. He met all the right people and they have had a permanent influence on him.
It was Thackery's time on stage with Muddy Waters that is branded deep within his musical soul. "Muddy was one of those guys who was constantly encouraging. He never told you what to do, but he always told you what you were doing wrong. He never minced words about that.

| The leader of Windopane, Beki Brindle was lead guitarist for the Warner/Reprise band, 'Grace Pool' and has performed and/or recorded guitar with greats such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Yank Rachell, John Sebastian, Rick Danko, Tom Pacheco, Mary Stokes Band (voted Best Blues band in Ireland), Windopane's 1st album, 'See?' was an underground hit in Italy & Canada. 2nd album, 'Lucky Catatonia' followed as an even bigger hit remaining at #1 on the Italian underground charts for months in 1995. The Saugerties Performing Arts Factory continues it’s weekly Jazz Workshop @ The Factory every Thursday at 7:00pm. Come one, come all for our weekly jazz party and workshop! The series features the master musicians living in the Hudson Valley – of which we have no shortage. Word has been spreading, and musicians have been dropping by to sit in, so there are always surprise guests. Students are also welcome to come and sit in with the masters as well.
On Thursday, October 25th, bassist Malcolm Cecil will be host for our final Jazz Workshop this fall. The ensemble will feature Peter Einhorn on guitar and George DeLeon on tenor. Rich Syracuse will be dropping by to play. There will be more surprise guests. It will be a great send-off party!

BEACON Sons of the Never Wrong, a contemporary folk trio from Chicago, will open its fall Northeast tour with a performance at the Howland Cultural Center in Beacon at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25.
“This band is celebrating its 20th year, but keeps the spirit of fresh folk alive,” said the producer of this event for Howland, Craig Wolf. “Their upbeat, offbeat style is strong on poetry and musicianship, but with a healthy dose of fun thrown in.”
Admission at the door is $15, or $12 for students and seniors. The nonprofit community arts institution, Howland Cultural Center, is at 477 Main St. in Beacon. Phone is 845-831-4988.

 Painted Betty, formed in 2009 in the Hudson Valley, buoyantly blends elements of county, jazz, blues, and tango into a unique sound. A six-piece acoustic band, Betty features two female lead singers: Deb Madsen's alto twang and tough-tender songwriting lends country grit. Sonia Ryzy-Ryski's lush soprano flows from jazz to Spanish ballads, and her ironic songwriting brings humor. Tim Hall, guitarist and elegiac songwriter, works as a NASA scientist by day, and his brother Andrew Hall, upright bass, is a seasoned musician who has worked with the likes of Sparklehorse and the Crash Test Dummies. Jazz clarinetist David Rothenberg is internationally known for his playing with, and writing about, the natural world, and has recorded with such luminaries as Peter Gabriel. Drummer Eric Starr leads a multifaceted life as a composer, a jazz performer, and music educator. Painted Betty's debut album, "Fifty Bucks and I'll Show You," (2011) is available on iTunes.

Eliza Benfer is a 15 year old high school sophomore at Marlboro High School in Marlboro, NY. Eliza studies music in school and with her amazing vocal coach, Nancy Auffarth of Pleasant Valley, NY. Eliza is a seasoned stage performer and singer and most recently played the role of Enid with New York City’s Broadway Workshop at the Alvin Ailey Theater in New York. Eliza was the lead singer in the youth band Sidewayz with Pascal which opened for 1964 4 years ago. Eliza is a Type 1 Diabetic and has committed herself to doing all she can to help fund research to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. Pascal Jadot is a 15 year old high school sophomore at Fiorello LaGuardia High School in New York City, NY. Pascal plays the piano, guitar, and tuba. Pascal has been playing piano for 8 years, the guitar for 6, and the tuba for 4 years. Pascal studies classical guitar with his private tutor Michael Calvert in New York City. Pascal studies piano at the Third Street Music School Settlement in New York City. Pascal has performed with a band, on and off, for 3 years, including Sidewayz with Eliza where he played acoustic guitar and piano.

 We're honored to present Michael Bram as he celebrates the release of his new solo album, "Suitcase in the Hall" (VizzTone). Mike has currently been on a whirlwind tour as drummer with Grammy winning singer/songwriter Jason Mraz. On the Mraz tour, he's performed in front of thousands across the nation, and appeared on many high-profile TV shows like Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Conan, TODAY and others. (Mike also served as Musical Director for Mraz from 2008-2010.)

Blake of American Blues News writes, "...though best known as a world-class-drummer-for-hire...he has also proven that as a vocalist, songwriter and harmonica player, he is a musical force to be reckoned with."
