Reverend Freakchild
Acoustic
Taste Budd's Chocolate and Coffee Cafe
40 West Market Street
Red Hook, NY   See Map
In the tradition of such modern musical irreverent Reverends as Rev. Horton Heat, Rev. Billy C. Wirtz or Rev. Billy of the Life after Shopping Choir - such is Reverend Freakchild. He has played in many bands including an early incarnation of Soul Coughing with M. Doughty leaving to form the roots rock jam band Bananafish in Boston and then onto some work with The Neptune Ensemble, The Soul Miners (w/ guitar virtuoso Matt Rae), The Lucky Devils and The Cosmic All-Stars touring internationally. The Rev. spent 3 years off-off-off Broadway singing blues and sprituals on Sundays at Tobacco Road, the now defunct NYC hippie hangout replete with drug addicts, hookers and music freaks. The Rev. has also served as a member and featured soloist of the Metro Mass Gospel Choir performing at such venues as Carnegie Hall, Avery Fischer Hall and the Town Hall Theater. The Rev's music has been featured in many TV programs and commercials, and also national radio advertising campaigns.

The Best Of Doo Wop - Day 3

Rock (50's-60's), Motown/R&B. Doo Wop sounds of the 50's and 60's
The CENTER For Performing Arts At Rhinebeck
661 Route 308
Rhinebeck, NY   See Map
This event is co-sponsored by Fox Oldies 1220am/98.9fm. End this musical weekend on a sweet note with our region's premiere Doo Wop group “The Phantoms” with special guests 'Times Square."

The Phantoms are Joe Veillette, Charlie Staxx, Brian Becker, Dorraine Scofield, Jasmine Veillette, Charlie Pistone and Jerry Mitnick. Fox Oldies afternoon drive personality "Buffalo Bob" Corsino will be on hand to MC.

A cappella resists modern recording techniques. Click tracks, isolation booths, one-at-a-time overdubs all seem to dilute this style born of vocal groups imitating big band sounds with nothing but voices. A cappella thrives on the stoop, the subway station, and the tiled hallways of New York and Philadelphia. The Phantoms bring their twenty years of experience, their Brooklyn hearts, and the keen ears of Joe Veillette and family to a style whose origins go back half a century. So kick back and discover Woodstock's best kept secret.

AMAZING HARP PLAYER- JOHN NEMETH, WILL BE PERFORMING @ BRIAN'S BACKYARD BBQ, THIS SUNDAY EVENING -OPENING BAND-TBA
Blues, Motown/R&B
Brian's Backyard BBQ
1665 RTE 211 EAST
Middletown, NY   See Map
Harps man John Németh plays vintage rhythm and blues with an ability to blend retro and modern Blues and soul music into something that sounds both old and new. Németh draws on the classic Blues, soul, and R&B influences that drive his vocal style and lays down a set of tunes that wouldn't sound a bit out of place in the golden years of Memphis or Muscle Shoals. His vocals have the toughness of James Brown and the tenderness of Solomon Burke. A thirty year old native of Boise, Idaho, he grew up singing in a Catholic church and started playing in local bands as a teenager. Nemeth recently recorded a 45 RPM vinyl record called "Name The Day," a rousing old school soul mover, backed with "Why Not Me," a gospel-tinged, spine-tingling ballad. The analog recordings from this limited edition pressing feature jukebox mixes of two outstanding tunes from Németh's forthcoming CD release, "Name The Day!," COVER CHARGE $ 12.00 CALL (845)692-3227

When I go, I'll ask you to stay, cause I'm too weak to bear this break again." Aside from writing and performing music, Tara is the Music Editor at Irish America Magazine.

Rich Kelly is a singer, bassist and guitarist who plays solo and as a sideman in many ensembles. He's been showcased on local TV shows such as The Working Musician. Steve is an award-winning Singer/Songwriter living in the Hudson Valley. But Steve has a style all his own: a little Bleecker Street, a little 6th Street, and a little Rock 'n' Roll.

Steve is well-loved by audiences and critics alike, and 12 Grapes especially. He's won several awards: In 2011, Steve was a winner at the HV SongFest Emerging Artist Competition, Wildflower! Marilyn Miller
Acoustic, Singer-Songwriter
Taste Budd's Chocolate and Coffee Cafe
40 West MArket Street
Red Hook, NY   See Map
Hudson, NY and the surrounding towns have been home for singer/songwriter Marilyn Miller for most of her life, and her music often deals with the contradictions inherent in an area which is at once both very rural and very urban. You will find her most often encouraging others at an open mic, having an open jam at her country home, supporting a farmers' market or other cause, or busking on the streets of her hometown. It is no surprise that, given the diversity of her sounds, her favorite musician is Neil Young, a man well known to follow his muse wherever it takes him. His influence is very evident in the songs Marilyn writes, and in how she approaches the art of music. As a performer, Marilyn is most often compared to Patti Smith, no doubt due to the high energy she displays in presenting her work, and her dedication to always seeking the truth in the music. Her goal is to provide the listener with sounds that make a person move, think and feel, and she does deliver.

Slide guitarist and singer-songwriter Eric Sardinas has a reputation for packing intensity into his live performances. Since the late-90s’ Sardinas has taken the stage thousands of times across the globe, with audiences growing exponentially each passing year. His six albums have displayed a distinct style that musically pushes the boundaries of rock and blues, and the world has taken notice.

Now Sardinas has put his onstage lighting in a bottle for the new album Sticks & Stones, an 11-song powerhouse of his trademark slide guitar that is a vehicle to drive his inspiration from the roadhouse in to mainstream music. Sardinas’ unique mixture weaves his heavy blues and rock threads in to a flamethrower to the listener and takes them on a ride encompassing the past, present and future of what music is meant to be.
