 For the past 5 years, Ray Blue has conducted Master Classes and Workshops for jazz ensemble at the Palmgren Conservatory in Pori, Finland. Blue and Palmgren’s Headmaster, Juha Jarvinen, have now initiated an annual Pro-Am Ensemble student exchange program. This year, Palmgren students Jyri Ekholm, Drums; Salla Jarvinen, Trumpet and Vocal; Ville Viertoli, Guitar; Samu Repo, Bass; and instructor Rauli Viltala, Guitarist were selected to study and perform in the U.S. In 2013, a select group of U.S. students will study and perform in Finland.
Local student participants are Sean McQuaid, Trumpet; John Winton, Saxophone; and Satish Robertson, Trumpet. Clinicians include; Ray Blue, Saxophone and Ensemble Director; Vince Corozine, Arranger; David Gibson, Drums/Percussion; Radam Schwartz, Organ/Piano; Wayne Cobham, Trumpet.
The Pro-Am Ensemble’s tour includes performances at NYC Jazz Club, Jam Sessions, and three concert performances, including this performance at the BeanRunner Cafe.

The "All-Stars" in the band are just that... musicians who are among the best in the Hudson Valley. | While the Chris O'Leary Band's music is rooted in the blues, you can hear shades of New Orleans, rockabilly and more in their big, high-energy sound. Their music is the fruit of many years on the road, with many nights absorbing the great blues, R&B, and and rock'n'roll that graced so many stages across the country. Several years ago, Levon Helm was turned on to Chris O'Leary's blues harp playing through a mutual friend, which led to Levon joining in on some of Chris's early recording sessions, and then sitting in on his band's regular gigs. Soon, Levon asked Chris and his compadres to join the house band at his new club in New Orleans. Chris quickly relocated to New Orleans, where he spent the better part of a year at the club as a focal point of Levon Helm's Barn Burners, backing up touring stars and opening for New Orleans' finest players. |

Ed Palermo is not a “business as usual” musician. After all, when most people think of “big bands” they think of Duke and Dorsey. But go to see Ed Palermo’s Big Band and you might hear Zappa, Hendrix, the blues of Paul Butterfield & Mike Bloomfield or one of Ed’s own compositions, loaded with lush turns and unexpected twists. Gil Evans wonderfully articulated Palermo’s unusual approach to traditional instrumentation:
“I first heard Ed Palermo’s music in a small club in the SoHo section of Manhattan. He was using the instrumentation of a traditional big band yet his arrangements and songs were anything but that. When I thought the music was going a certain direction, it would suddenly turn a corner. Ed has the ability to keep that important balance between cohesiveness and unpredictability. Ed Palermo’s music is alive and represents now.”

 An innovative musician and composer with a creative approach and virtuosic technique, Chad McLoughlin has received honors such as New York State's Best Guitarist and the Capital District's Best Guitarist.
Chad has performed and recorded with a wide range of artists including David Kikoski, Bob Francesini, Ruben Rodriguez, Mike Stern, Joel Rosenblatt, Carlo DeRosa, Richie Cannata, Chrisy Poland, Little Anthony, David Sancious, Manolo Badrena, David Torn, Ricky Nelson, Bo Diddley and many others. In 2009, he jointed the Mahavishnu Project which plays the music of John McLoughlin. Currently, he appears regularly with his trio, which includes drummer Thierry Arpino (Jean Luc Ponty) and bassist Dave Anderson ( Bill Evans ).
Chad has an extensive list of CD/album credits that represent a diversity of styles and genres. His trio is working on a new CD of exciting original music that is due to be released this year.

On any given Friday night, the audience might take part in Play Dough Theatre, or judge a grudge match between two improv directors, or take to the stage in one of the many audience participation games the company offers, or sing along in a rousing improvised chorus, or....hey, you never know.

 "Gil Parris Picks the Guitar Hits: Hendrix, Santana, Beck...Blues & Beyond", is a CD/DVD that was filmed at BB King's in NYC. Gil has been taking his Guitar Hits show on the road, and it's been met with critical acclaim, and praise from fans.
Gil Parris has recorded and toured both as a solo artist and sideman with major artists like Dr. John, Paul Shaffer, Blood, Sweat & Tears, David Mann, Billy Vera and Bobby Caldwell to name a few. Gil often performs with former Yankee outfielder, Bernie Williams. He's been featured on The TODAY show, CBS, YES Network and others. In 2010, Vintage Guitar said, "Gil Parris is one of guitardom's unsung heroes." Jazz Improv calls Gil "an absolute monster of the guitar--lyrically, technically, sensitively."
Gil's band features equally incredible musicians Joe Piteo (drums), Kip Sophos (bass), Matt King (keys) and the ever-charming and talented Curtis Winchester.
