| Award winning guitarist, Gene Ess, draws upon a diverse background to form his unique style. Considered a child prodigy by fellow musicians and instructors, Ess performed in clubs and festivals all around Okinawa at the early age of 14. Over his career, Gene has performed and recorded with many wonderful musicians. Some are Dave Liebman, Al Foster, Rashied Ali, Harvie S, Slide Hampton, Carlos Santana, Archie Shepp, Reggie Workman, Tigran Hamasyan, and Ravi Coltrane.
Nicki Parrott is an internationally acclaimed vocalist and bassist Nicki has also performed at most of the world’s major jazz festivals. In the United States she’s appeared at the Newport Jazz Festival (2005), the Litchfield Jazz festival (2005), the Jazz in July concert series at the 92nd street Y (2003, 2004), the Detroit Jazz Festival (2005) and the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival (2001).

The Esopus Creek Conservancy and John Burroughs Natural History Society are co-sponsoring the first of two summer butterfly walks at Esopus Bend Nature Preserve in Saugerties on Sunday, July 15, 2012. We will visit the Preserve’s meadow and wetlands to search for mid-summer butterflies and observe plant and animal life.
Meet at 10:00 a.m. in the northeast corner of Saugerties Plaza (near the Credit Union) on Rte. 9W just south of the Village of Saugerties. We will carpool to the preserve. NOTE: OUR SUMMER MEETING LOCATION IS NOT AT THE VILLAGE OF SAUGERTIES BEACH.
Bring binoculars, insect repellant, and field guides if you have them. Be prepared for potentially wet/muddy trails, tall grass, and summer heat. Rain will cancel the walk. Children are welcome and encouraged, but please do not bring pets.

| Maria Muldaur is best known world wide for her '74 mega-hit "Midnight at the Oasis," which received several Grammy nominations, and enshrined her forever in the hearts of Baby Boomers everywhere; but despite her considerable Pop Music success, her 39-year career could best be described as a long and adventurous odyssey through the various forms of American Roots Music. During the folk revival of the early '60s, she began exploring and singing early Blues, Bluegrass, Appalachian "Old Timey" music, beginning her recording career in 1963 with the Even Dozen Jug Band and shortly thereafter, joining the very popular Jim Kweskin Jug Band, touring, and recording with them throughout the '60s.

Big Joe Fitz is a warm and engaging performer. "My goal is to connect with the audience... that's what I'm thinking about every time I step on the stage." He is a singer of uncommon sensitivity whose roots are deep in the Blues but whose music also combines elements of jazz, swing, funk, and soul.
As a performer Big Joe has opened for or shared the stage with such notable names in the Blues as The Holmes Brothers, Marcia Ball, Mighty Sam McClain, Eddie Kirkland, Little Sammy Davis, Madeleine Peyroux, Tad Robinson, Bruce Katz, Janiva Magness and more.
For 25 years Big Joe Fitz has been one of the leading personalities on The Hudson Valley Music Scene. His long running radio program THE BLUES BREAK broadcast over legendary independent radio station WDST in Woodstock New York has become a Sunday night institution for those in the musical know.

 Internationally acclaimed musician Bruce Katz will perform at the High Falls Café with Jimmy Bennett and Special Guest Randy Ciarlante.
Based in West Shokan, NY, Bruce is a three-time nominee for the Memphis based Blues Foundation’s Piano Player of the Year Award. He has performed on over 70 CDs and toured extensively with legendary blues, soul, and jazz artists including Greg Allman, Delbert McClinton, Jaimoe Johanson, Ronnie Earl, Duke Robillard, Fathead Newman, Joe Louis Walker, Maria Muldaur, and Big Mama Thornton.
The Bruce Katz Band plays unique, original blues, soul-jazz, and New Orleans inspired roots music that explores many aspects of American roots styles, while never losing its blues spirit and feel. This powerful three-piece band blends guitar, Hammond B3 organ, and drums together into a sound that is modern and yet traditional at its core.
Jimmy Bennett accompanies Bruce on vocals and guitar and Randy Ciarlante performs percussions and sings harmony vocals.

 Petey Hop is equally at home playing down home Blues, Folk, Country and Rockabilly as he is jamming out with blistering Rock and Roll. Petey's originals are powerfully written, musically intriguing and downright fun to listen to. Songs like "Little Johnny", "Westside" and the title track, "The Levee" have been met with high praise. Big Joe Fitz, radio host of of 100.1 Bluesbreak calls Pete "One of the finest guitar players in the Hudson Valley, hands down."
In April, Pete celebrated with us for the release of his new CD, "The Levee", Pete's 2nd studio recording. "I'm very proud of the record. I think it's a great overview of my roots guitar playing, songwriting and evolution, and I think it will stand the test of time." It was produced by Grammy-nominated Blues guitarist Duke Robillard, who's worked with many music industry legends. Duke wrote, "To those who don't know [Petey] yet, you will soon!"
