| Marc Black is an eclectic folk-rocker who sings about Rachel Maddow, good coffee and just about everything in between. His talent has attracted folks like John Sebastian, Taj Mahal, Art Garfunkel and Richie Havens to perform and record with him. Folk Artist of the Year on ABC Radio's Fame Games, Marc was also a winner at the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival. His song, No Fracking Way has become an anthem for the anti-fracking movement. Marc's band will feature Eric Parker from the Joe Cocker and Stevie Winwood Bands on drums, Mike Esposito on Bass and Don Davis from the legendary Microscopic Septet on alto, tenor and soprano sax, as well as the bass clarinet. Orlando Marin, a contemporary of such greats as Tito Puente, Machito, and Tito Rodriguez, is the only orchestra leader from New York’s golden era of mambo who still performs regularly.
Orlando formed his first band, Eddie Palmieri and his Orchestra and, since then, has played with several different bands and has performed in the famous Palladium Ballroom. In 1997, Latin music historiographer Max Salazar presented Orlando a plaque in recognition of nearly five decades of uninterrupted contribution to Latin music. In January 2003, Orlando was invited by Latin Jazz station, WPFW, by the Arlington County (Virginia) Cultural Arts Division, and by the Latin American Folk Institute to do a live concert in Washington at The Spectrum Theater and in 2006, Congressman Jose E. Serrano honored Orlando as “The Last Mambo King,” for his continuing to provide Latin American music and his willingness to devote time to helping the less fortunate. Admission $10 | ||

The High Falls Civic Association will celebrate the birthday of Marc Chagall at its annual Fair Day extravaganza on Saturday July 7th, 2012. There will be many exciting events for everyone, young and old. In the center of town you will find face painters and more for the kids. For the past 5 years, Ray Blue has conducted Master Classes and Workshops for jazz ensemble at the Palmgren Conservatory in Pori, Finland. Blue and Palmgren’s Headmaster, Juha Jarvinen, have now initiated an annual Pro-Am Ensemble student exchange program. This year, Palmgren students Jyri Ekholm, Drums; Salla Jarvinen, Trumpet and Vocal; Ville Viertoli, Guitar; Samu Repo, Bass; and instructor Rauli Viltala, Guitarist were selected to study and perform in the U.S. In 2013, a select group of U.S. students will study and perform in Finland. Local student participants are Sean McQuaid, Trumpet; John Winton, Saxophone; and Satish Robertson, Trumpet. Clinicians include; Ray Blue, Saxophone and Ensemble Director; Vince Corozine, Arranger; David Gibson, Drums/Percussion; Radam Schwartz, Organ/Piano; Wayne Cobham, Trumpet. The Pro-Am Ensemble’s tour includes performances at NYC Jazz Club, Jam Sessions, and three concert performances, including this performance at the BeanRunner Cafe. Admission: $10 | ||

The "All-Stars" in the band are just that... musicians who are among the best in the Hudson Valley.
