Special 2 PM matinee with singer/songwriter Greg Greenway & special guest Joe McKay. OLM Academy. Doors 1:30 PM. www.cafeacoustic.org 201-573-0718 Originally from VA, Greg Greenway moved to Boston for its rich Folk Music tradition & has become one of its most unique and superlative emissaries. Put simply, he is one of the finest entertainers you'll ever see. Musically, he draws inspiration from all over the map--gospel, rock, blues, Jazz, & world music. But his center is in the singer/songwriter tradition that traces it roots all the way back to the social awareness of Woody Guthrie. His central appeal is that it all comes through the singular lens of Greenway's humanity & his easy affinity for the audience. The Boston Globe wrote, "Confessional one moment, rambunctiously disarming the next, few modern folk singers can own a coffeehouse stage as completely as Greenway." Greg is also part of acclaimed harmony trio, Brother Sun, with Pat Wictor & Joe Jencks. www.greggreenway.com

High Falls Cafe
Route 213
High Falls, NY   See Map
In August of 2008 we embarked on a joint venture with Buffy & Brian Gribbon of The High Falls Cafe. We called it Big Joe's Blues Party and we've been doing it twice a month ever since. If my math is correct that brings us to Blues Party #88 tomorrow night. The Gribbons and their staff and all of you folks have been incredibly supportive and have made this a wonderfully special event on so many levels...that we cannot thank you enough. Most of you have heard by now that The High Falls Cafe will be moving to their new location at The Stone Dock Golf Course in a matter of weeks and we look forward to the dawn of an exciting new era there. But that makes Tuesday night the Last Go-Round for blues on the corner of Mohonk Road and Route 213. We hope you can come out and celebrate with us, and give the old place a rousing send off. We surely have had many great times there.

Lead singer Nee Nee Rushie, a native of Jamaica, leads her five bandmates in what is arguably one of the best upstate NY groups in recent memory.

Keeping alive the tradition of roots/ska/reggae realness, the Big Takeover's refreshingly upbeat and original.

You'll find it hard to believe that all the cuts on their Debut CD "Following Too Close" are originals, as they magnificently capture early rocksteady riddims with supertight songwriting.

The Big Takeover leans hard toward reggae's more up-tempo parents, ska and rocksteady, and their high energy has audiences jamming from start to finish.

There newest CD, "Tale of My Life" has gotten rave reviews.

"...the intensely jubilant music the Big Takeover makes is the sound of Rushie, as well as her five gifted cohorts, spreading their creative wings—and picking up more and more new fans as they fly along."-Peter Aaron, Chronogram

"(Dorraine) Scofield tells ballads like they happened just yesterday, taking you to their soul-center in a voice that's clear and smokey, at once. -- Kitty Montgomery, Kingston Daily Freeman. JB Hunt and Larry Balestra will accompany Dorraine.

Breakneck Annie…good time music - not quite bluegrass, not quite old time, not quite folk. Rarely serious and always fun. Five musicians playing an expanding array of instruments and other implements of destruction. Perfect for the backyard, bar room and Irish wakes.

World-class Southern Rock
with The SUNDOWN Band
Southern Rock
12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
The SUNDOWN Band has been performing their brand of Southern Rock since 1976. Every time the band's been reviewed, the response is the same: "You will be hard pressed to find another band that performs with the talent, passion, and intensity that these guys bring to the stage every night." (WPDH 101.5 FM).

From the beginning, SUNDOWN played all the legendary Westchester clubs like the Fore 'n Aft, Bottom's Up and The Beachmont, as well as NYC clubs like Lone Star Cafe. Many of the band's life-long fans now bring their teenage kids to experience the band's classic style; unique renditions of Southern Rock classics from bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers, The Outlaws, Marshall Tucker, Molly Hatchet and more. They don't just cover the songs, they play them with heart. The highlight of their shows are the duel guitar talents of Ronnie Pauls and Steve Mitchell, which leaves audiences in awe. We can't wait.
