 Marc Von Em's new CD release has created quite a buzz, and our Fri, March 9 "Dinner & Show" quickly sold out, so we've added a second performance tonight.
CRASH BOOM POW is Marc's 4th studio recording and features guest artists KJ Denhert, Todd Giudice, Andrew Bordeaux & others. Marc will be performing with a full band tonight. Musicians who contributed to the new CD will appear as his live ensemble, along with special guests.
Marc's sound is rooted in Blues, Folk, Rock and Reggae. He's toured nationally and internationally with the Rob Thomas Band. Rob remarked, "I asked him to open up a 10,000 seat gig. Just him, his guitar, and his songs. He killed it!" Marc has shared bills with Lucy Kaplansky, Martin Sexton, Richie Havens and others. One reviewer writes: "... I can genuinely say if you haven't heard or seen him live, you are only cheating yourself."

 Dr. Capers has performed with Dizzy Gillespie, Wynton Marsalis, Mongo Santamaria, Tito Puente, Slide Hampton, Max Roach, and Paquito D'Rivera, among others; has recorded 5 albums: Portrait of Soul (Atlantic), Affirmation (KMA Arts), Come On Home (Columbia/Sony), Wagner Takes the 'A' Train (Elysium), and Limited Edition (VALCAP Records); and has appeared on numerous radio and television programs. She plays regularly at the Knickerbocker in Greenwich Village and Lenox Lounge in Harlem.
Dr. Capers has served on the faculty of the Manhattan School of Music, and from 1987 to 1995 was chair of the Dept of Music and Art at Bronx Community College of CUNY, where she is now professor emeritus.
Her most noted compositions are Sing About Love, a critically acclaimed Christmas cantata produced by George Wein at Carnegie Hall; Sojourner, an operatorio based on the life of Sojourner Truth, performed by the Opera Ebony Company of NY; and Song of the Seasons, commissioned by the Smithsonian.

The Poughkeepsie Chapter of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild continues its 2012 coffeehouse series on Saturday, March 17, 2012, at the Unitarian Fellowship, South Randolph Ave., Poughkeepsie. The coffeehouse performances start at 7:30 pm with an open mic format followed by the featured performer, Melissa Holland.
Melissa Holland is a singer/songwriter, flutist, and keyboardist. In each song she tells a story - reflecting personal growth and change and evoking empathy, images and pathos. She does this with confessional, conversational and often humorous lyrics. Her style is a mixture of pop, folk, classical, sometimes even jazz and country; but somehow it is all part of who she is and the musical journey she takes you on. She has been compared style-wise to Carol King and Laura Nyro.  The band formed in 1999 and has been performing throughout Orange, Rockland and Sullivan counties since. It has seen many incarnations, but the current lineup, which includes Flood (guitars/vocals), Rich "The Dog" Walter (mandolin/guitar/vocals), Ed Rivera (percussion/vocals), Mike Tucciarone (bass/vocals), Rob Mandel (drums) and Bruce Stern (keyboards/vocals), has been together for five years.
The band plays jam band (Grateful Dead), reggae and classic rock songs but will perform jam band-specific or Grateful Dead-specific shows. Artists it will cover include the Allman Brothers Band, the Rolling Stones, the Who, Bob Marley, Tom Petty, the Beatles, Eric Clapton and Bob Dylan.

 Kathleen Parks is an eighteen year old Celtic/Irish fiddle player and vocalist. She has been playing since the age of five and has performed with Grammy-nominated and award winning artists. She is currently the fiddler of the renowned "John Whelan Band". Kathleen was the Grand Prize winner of the Berklee College of Music's "Cover Karmin Contest" (click on Kathleen's name above to see her video submission.)
This St. Patrick's Day, Kathleen will perform with vocalist Lindsey Webster, Connor Kennedy on guitar, Keith Slattery on piano, and Dan Hickey on drums.
The night will be filled with Jazz, Folk, Blues, and of course some fiery Irish fiddling!
