The 4th Thursday of each month, join saxman and vocalist JP Patrick and his band as they rehearse, work, and play for each other, and for you. "Sessions" gives audience members an up-close-and personal view of what it takes to put together a live performance. You'll enjoy this intimate look at how musicians do what they love to do best: "play". JP has been on the Blues music scene for years, and is a tremendously talented front-man, vocalist and songwriter. He plays Blues harp and alto sax, and always performs with passion and energy. His audiences feel it... and love it. His original songs are full of wit and charm. Songs like "Simple Request (Stop Breaking My Balls)" and "Shy of Indigo" showcase his talents as a funky Blues musician who's taking his art to the next level. Tony Jefferson, accomplished drummer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist has released his debut vocal recording, "Tony Jefferson Sings". Tony has worked with a "who's who" of jazz artists including Eddie Harris, Frank Wess, Lou Donaldson, Freddy Cole, Hank Jones, Kenny Drew Jr., Sheila Jordan and Annie Ross, to name a few. Recently, he has also toured Central Asia (Jazz @ Lincoln Ctr/US St Dept) with Paul Beaudry and Pathways band. Tony now has stepped out from behind the drums to sing. As a singer, he has an honest and direct approach mixed with inventive scat singing. He has sung alongside vocalist Sheila Jordan and Don Byron with Cameron Brown's Band. Saxophonist, Eric Person, bassist, Joseph Lepore and drummer, Shinnisuke Takahashi play with an uncommon unity, a big full sound that.respects the great roots of Jazz and reaches beyond them to create their own unique sound. Their interchange is paramount and their music includes a wide spectrum of expressions, textures, linear devices, and colorations. Eric Person, Saxophonist, leader of the jazz band Meta-Four and the rhythm and groove band Metamorphosis, has produced eight CD's as a leader. He has recorded and performed with legends such as Dave Holland, Chico Hamilton and McCoy Tyner. Joseph Lepore, Bassist has played with world class musicians such as JD Allen Marc Copland, Mark Turner, Terri Lynn Carrington, and Greg Osby. Shinnisuke Takahashi, Drummer studied with Masahiko Osaka and Tommy Campbell and has performed with Terumasa Hino, Fumio, Karashima, Eric Lewis, among others. Tara Dougherty is a singer/songwriter who combines soulful vocals with a Folk flavor. Tara's been playing on the New York City circuit for several years exciting audiences with her poetic lyrics. Even her songs of heartbreak are beautiful. "When we fall, if we break, it's the way we're made and the chance we take. Cause we're still too young to bend that way... When I go, I'll ask you to stay, cause I'm too weak to bear this break again." Aside from writing and performing music, Tara is the Music Editor at Irish America Magazine. British born James Maddock was first recognized in the U.S as leader of the band Wood (Songs From Stamford Hill - Columbia Records) and has been living on Manhattan's Lower East Side making great music for the better part of the 2000's .The acclaimed Songs From Stamford Hill, which remains a fan favorite 10 years later, produced a Top 5 Triple A hit (Stay You) and was included in the first Dawson's Creek compilation. After taking an extended break from record making Maddock returned to the scene in late 2009 with the exquisite collection of songs, Sunrise On Avenue C, for which he won the 2010-11 NY Music Award for Best Americana Album.
