"About all a human being is anyway is a hoping machine." Woodie Guthrie

Hope Machine-the band-was born at a 2003 Woody Guthrie hootenanny hosted by Woody's granddaughter Anna Canoni. It's core members are Fred Gillen Jr., Steve Kirkman, and Eric Puente. They rarely do a show without a special guest or two sitting in and their performances are true celebrations of community, spontaneity, and freedom.

Their debut CD March, released in the Winter of 2006/2007, was recorded live-in-the-studio and received folk airplay all over the East Coast. The follow-up CD, Big Green Hope Machine, features some of Gillen and Kirkman's finest songs and great special guests. The CD has gotten great reviews and airplay all over the world.

Hope Machine is always evolving, but the message remains one of hope, peace, and freedom. While they sing many of their own songs, they also remain an "official program" of the Woody Guthrie Foundation, and carry Woody's message wherever they go.

An electro-fiddle, trip-funk experience!
with Stratospheerius, featuring electric violinist, Joe Deninzon
Jazz. Funk, Electro Rock Fiddle
12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Lead by electric violinist/vocalist Joe Deninzon (aka the Jimi Hendrix of the violin), the band has showcased their "psychojazz trip funk" throughout the US. The group was a winner in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, and Best Jam Song at the 4th Annual Independent Music Awards. The band has opened for John Scofield, among others.

Joe performs on 6- and 7-string "Viper" violin, acoustic violin and mandolin. Here's what one reviewer wrote: "The songs are gripping and energetic... made compelling by the violin passion. Fevered solos are cradled between lyrical passages that tremble with breakout Rock stamina. A Bayou flavor lurks in several tracks, creating a strange fusion of Bluesy Funk and progressive tendencies. The result is goodtime music that will get you dancing."

Joe calls the band, "the bastard child of Frank Zappa, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Dave Matthews and Blues Traveler". We can't wait to hear this!

Chris Cernak is a passionate and introspective singer/songwriter from upstate NY who has always prided himself on being just a little bit different than your stereotypical acoustic artist. The terms “refreshing” and “energetic” have been used to describe him by many bar and club owners, as well as their patrons through the years. After having to bow out of the music world in late 2006 Chris is back with a new album, and a renewed passion for the career that was once a dream come true. With a live show that is as varied as the venues he plays he fits into almost any musical situation with ease.

Something different. Someone different. A world artist, a jazz vocalist, a creative interpreter, a heavenly sound, a woman with a unique view of music, the world, and of singing. This is just a small description of songbird Gabriele Tranchina. She brings to her music a worldview -- using music as a force for wholeness, a source of unity and energy for all. Collaborating with top New York musicians, Joe Tranchina (husband) on piano, Grammy Award Nominee Bobby Sanabria, on drums, bassist Santi Debriano and percussionist Renato Thoms, the textures of the songs on her recent CD, "A Song of Love's Color", range from delicate and soothing to dynamic and throbbing, from intricate woven to finely spun. Whether you are a lover of world cultures, of modern jazz, of creative partnership or just gorgeous singing, you will find satisfaction in this collection. Gabriele asks you to join her on this heartfelt musical journey, opening yourself to the joy and peace that music brings us all.
