Conjunto Sazon

Latin
BeanRunner Cafe
201 S. Division Street @ Esther
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Conjunto Sazon was inspired by the music of Cuba and Puerto Rico. The band, a small conjunto with a huge sound, identifies with the rhythms and melodies of the Caribbean; Salsa, Son, Rumba, Bomba, Plena, as well as Merengue. The veteran musicians of this conjunto, to their credit, have performed and recorded with world renowned artists such as Celia Cruz, Pete "El Conde" Rodriquez, Eddie Palmieri, Monguito "el unico", los Kimbos, and the New Swing Sextet to name a few. This conjunto creates a traditional/modern energetic sound by placing the interlocking rhythmic figures of percussion and Cuban Tres under a smoothly swinging melody to create a ".... new sound Conjunto Sazon.”

Katherine Pohl is a singer-songwriter originally from upstate New York. She has been singing all her life, and writing almost as long. She graduated the prestigious Berklee College of Music in 2007, and compiled an album of original material, fondly titled "From Boston," which was independently released earlier this year. Katherine's lyrical prowess and dynamically gymnastic voice have granted her the ability to relay her experiences in a creative and emotional way to audiences throughout the northeast. She is hoping to continue sharing her music for years to come, bringing her absolute love for music to listeners far and wide, and connecting with people who hold the same passion she possesses.

Ernie Williams played his first guitar in the 30's; he was 13 and living in a shack on a Virginia Plantation. He spent his days picking tobacco and his nights bending the blues on a beat up six-string. By the 40's, he earned the right to play with the local bluesmen at the Saturday night Fish Fries in Halifax County, Virginia. At the age of 19, he bought a one-way ticket to Harlem, NY with the $9.00 it took him a year to save - he was moving north to go after his dream. Although the band members have changed through the years, Ernie has remained one of the most beloved performers in the region.
