High Falls , NY   See Map
On the Second Friday of each month, Jeff Entin & Bob Blum will be in residence at the High Falls Cafe doing something we're calling the Friday Night Jams.

What does that mean, you may ask? Allow me to enlighten you... Jeff & Bob, who have been playing together since before the term Jam Band was coined, will be playing and hosting something a little more experimental than the usual fare. They'll be doing their usual unusual thing, but with a guest or two sitting in, not to play their usual stuff, but to see what happens through the magic of Jamming! So... every second Friday of each month they will be here, along with who knows who, sitting in with them, taking musical chances and casting their collective fates to the wind. 8PM!

Musical Theater, Comedic, and Cabaret. Improvisation
Underground at Proctors
432 State Street
Schenectady, NY   See Map
MOPCO brings its unique brand of improv to Proctors -- Friday nights at 8:00pm.

Created by Kat Koppett in association with Freestyle Repertory Theatre in New York, Spontaneous Broadway is a virtouso evening of musical improv.

The audience submits titles of "songs that have never been written". In a fictional "backer's audition", these titles inspire improvised songs in act one. In act two, the audience's favorite song serves as the basis of an entire (45 minute) Broadway musical, complete with costumes and set.

The format received a rave review from The New York Times when it premiered in New York in 1995. You ain’t seen nuttin’ like it, folks!

Birthday Bash, OPENING SET
with WeMustBe
Acoustic, Singer-Songwriter
12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Hailey, Mona and Andrea love this diverse and funky acoustic duo, and so will you... So to get their Birthday party started, WeMustBe will open the night with a half-hour set of their unique, "Organic Pop" sound.

Singer Christine Dominguez co-authored this year's Grammy nominated hit song "Airplanes" by B.o.B and is collaborating with artists and producers in the Hip Hop/Urban community where her distinct and soulful vocals are in demand. T. Xiques started gigging as a drummer at age 15 and tours across the US, Canada, Europe and Malaysia with artists like Savoy Brown, Dr.Know and Daryl Jenifer (Bad Brains), Colin Hay and Brother, among others.

With soulful vocals and using an assortment of instruments, from piano and acoustic guitar to 5-string bass and cajon drum, WeMustBe is making a name for themselves throughout the Hudson Valley.

WeMustBe will be followed by Live Society... (see below for details) These are two great back-to-back acts you won't want to miss.

Peekskill, NY   See Map
It's Hailey, Mona & Andrea's Birthday and our gift to them is... LIVE SOCIETY! Get ready for the best night of dancing ever!

With harmony-rich vocals that drive crowds wild, this 8 piece band puts on a sound and stage show that's a mix of Pop Rock, Indy song-craft and classic Motown/Soul. It's like Maroon 5 meets The Jackson 5. Live Society performs songs by Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding... the list goes on and on. And their original songs are so rich and hooky you won't be able to get them out of your head.

Brothers Kevin and Brian Collazo and their cousin Jason Vargas sing with the unity of family, while the players--blood brothers John Kaiteris (guitarist songwriter), Anthony Candullo (bass), Scotty Harper (sax), and Erik Perez (drums)--are as connected to the pulse as the front line is to the message.

Get yer dancin' shoes on 'cause we're gonna be partying tonight!

Wolf Critton
Acoustic, Singer-Songwriter
Taste Budd's Chocolate and Coffe Cafe
40 West Market Street
Red Hook, NY   See Map
Sing/songwriter Wolf Critton welcomes his listeners into a life of pain, understanding, and triumph. Drawing from his youthful experiences growing up in the church near his home, Critton found inspiration from his musically-driven mother who lead the choir since he was three years old. In a twist of fate, Wolf found himself enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served as a soldier in Iraq. His experience on the battlefield and the death of his friend and teacher of the acoustic guitar taught him to understand how fragile life can be. Wolf's music has a unique way of telling stories of his challenges of life on the streets, wild gang life experiences, and his opportunity to rise above it all in all he does today. Wolf brings the soulful sounds of his real world experiences to all of his music and shows us all that life may take a twisted path, but only the strongest make it to become truly successful.

This Sunday "Jazz At The Falls" begins it's winter-spring series as host Bill Bannan welcomes vocalist Teri Roiger, bassist John Menegon & guitarist Mark Dzuiba to the High Falls Cafe.

Teri Roiger has been on the jazz scene for many years as a singer, lyricist, pianist and educator. Her uniquely compelling vocal style is full of soul, swing, sincerity and sass.

John Menegon started his career as a jazz bassist in Montreal. After several years on the Canadian jazz scene he went on to NYC in the mid-80s. John was an integral member of the David “Fathead” Newman Quintet and the the Dewey Redman Quartet.

Mark Dziuba has been performing and teaching internationally for over 30 years. Mark's unique jazz guitar style invites the listener deep inside for a provoking musical experience. Although there's no cover charge for "Jazz At The Falls" Sunday brunches, we do pass the hat for a suggested $5 donation.

2011 Grassy Hill Kerrville New Folk Finalists The YaYas are a spirited and uplifting New York-based folk pop trio who tell stories in songs that make you think and sometimes laugh – decidedly hope-filled tunes with choruses that get you singing along. These are stories we are all familiar with; the loss of a parent, the humorous ups and downs of a marriage, the dreams of youth, the gift of friendship… all told in a very personal way through the characters that inhabit them. Catherine Miles’ expressive voice is complemented by husband Jay Mafale’s percussive guitar riffs and Paul Silverman’s melodic piano lines to create their distinctive sound. The trio’s 2010 release, Paper Boats, has received airplay on more than 125 radio stations and rose to #4 on the Roots Music Report’s Folk Top 50 albums chart.
