Great new music series at the newly spiffed up Colony Cafe.
It is obvious that the Hudson Valley is fertile with talented musicians, singers and young bands ...and we want to give them an opportunity to show us! With the popularity of such shows as "American Idol" and "America's Got Talent," this is a great opportunity for these blossoming musicians to showcase their talents in front of entertainment industry professionals, and hone their skills on a stage that, for nearly four decades, has hosted hundreds of musicians while they were "up-and-coming," including Suzanne Vega, Shawn Colvin, Leon Redbone and many, many others. These shows will be held every Sunday, beginning July 10, 2011 until the finale & award ceremony on August 21, 2011.
"Me and My Ex" is made up of 2 New Paltz residents Ginny Leitner and Rob Leitner: but don't let the last names fool you - they really are divorced, but are still literally making beautiful music together (alas, the figurative "music" disappeared awhile back...). Come see them play a mixed bag of folk, light rock and country covers. And, they promise not to bicker on stage (although she has been known to roll her eyes from time to time...!). Keith Newman will be sitting in with additional guitar and vocals.
Ladies and gentleman: introducing Greene Co.'s newest band ::: Guitar'd & Feather'd. The band is: Eddie Fingerhut on lead vocals & guitar, Tom Flowerman on lead guitar, Alan Herskowitz on drums and Kevin Williams on bass. This is a band to get you up dancing and enjoying great music. From unique interpretations of classic rock, blues & standards to rockin' originals there are songs for every one. Rockin' electric music as it's sopposed to be - in your face & with an attitude. These guys are not to be missed. Join us for an open mic & BBQ @ Kindred Spirits, Rte 32A Palenville.
2011 was a big year for Steve. He was a winner at the HV SongFest Emerging Artist Competition, Wildflower! Music and Art Festival songwriting competition, Woody Guthrie Songwriting Contest (3rd Place) and a Kerrville New Folk finalist. In 2010, he was grand prize winner of the Music 2Life songwriting competition. Steve is well-loved by audiences and critics alike, and 12 Grapes especially!
Myles is a 15 yr old, multi-instrumentalist prodigy playing a unique blend of Rockin' Rhythm & Soul. His performances include songs from Ray Charles, James Brown, Wilson Pickett, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash, Myles' own Originals and many more. He recently opened for Buddy Guy at the Ridgefield Playhouse and he's played at some of the top venues in New York City; BB Kings & the Iridum Jazz Club in Times Square, The Cutting Room, Tera Blues, The Red Lion, South Street Seaport, Madison Square Garden (Knick's Half-Time Show) and many others throughout the Tri State area. At every Mojo Myles show there is plenty of Groovin' & Movin'. This is a one of a kind live music experience ...come join the fun!
This Tuesday we are celebrate the 3rd anniversary of The Blues Party @ The High Falls Cafe. All our praise and gratitude go out to Buffy and Brian and their wonderful staff for making this extended run possible. Please remember to thank them...and support them. Pianist extraordinaire Mark Shane is our special guest this time around. Mark Shane’s jazz piano is firmly rooted in a tradition established by such piano masters as James P. Johnson, Fats Waller, Teddy Wilson, Count Basie, Earl Hines and Art Tatum. Shane has played with Benny Goodman, Buck Clayton, Buddy Tate and many other all star alumni from the great bands of Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller. We've also invited some of our esteemed regulars such as Bart Thrall, Bill Bannan, and Steve Beinart to join us for a song or two. So please come down and join us for the festivities.
Our Kids' Open Mic is a showcase for talented musicians and singers age 17 and under. Bring your guitar, bass, sax, flute or whatever instrument you play. We have a drum kit, keyboard, guitar & bass amps and microphones. Our Kids' Open Mic has become a popular favorite, and is always full of surprises and incredible talent. Plus, EVERY Wednesday is our Wednesday Night $10 Burger Special. So bring the whole family and enjoy great food and great musical fun. Sign-up for Kids' Open Mic begins at 6:30. Kids under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.

Dave Mason hailing from Glenford New York, is a talented musician who plays Guitar, Violin, Vocals, Bass & Harmonica. He has recorded with Africa Bombata, Bootsy Collens, Mark Black, and producer Bill Laswell on viola. Mason has played bass with Uncle Funk and with David Oliver on his last two albums. Over the past nine years he has been playing around the Hudson Valley with a group named Bill’s Toupee Band
August gets off to a HOT start tonight. Join us as front man and sax player JP Patrick and guitar slinger Mike Murphy take the stage in another installment of "Sessions", the Summer version! It's a little bit Blues and a little bit Rock and Roll, as "Murph" takes center stage with his trio, JP and other guests. Mike is an awesome guitarist, and you'll be blown away by his talent.

Red Dirt Road members Susy Marker, Pat Walker, Doug Mathewson and Bill McCasland perform a variety of Americana tunes in the bluegrass/country/red dirt/western swing/gospel genres, featuring original material by songwriters Doug Mathewson and Susy Marker. Red Dirt Road was formed shortly after the members met in a local song swap. They found they had similar musical tastes and loved singing together. Soon songs took on arrangements, the group started singing in local venues until they became the good-time string band with a great sound that people enjoy so much today! Bob Stump & The Blue Mountain Band, whose sound has been described as a missing link between Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Bill Monroe, is committed to making great music with traditional instruments. Featuring the warm vocals and presence of Bob Stump, they deliver a diverse song selection, including bluegrass, country blues, folk, western swing, country standards, instrumentals and original music.
At around the age of nine he was affectionately referred to as “Mojo” in a newspaper article about him. Now 15 year old Myles Mancuso is a nationally recognized prodigy who fronts his own band – singing and playing Guitar and Keyboards. He’s been billed in New York City as “New York’s Youngest Working Bandleader”. His show transcends age and musical preferences, referred to as “Inspiring, Educational and Emphatically Entertaining”. His sound has been referred to as “Rockin’ Rhythm & Soul”…an updated Funk/Rock twist on a traditional American sound.

The Reddan Brothers are a hard hitting blues/rock trio with the miles to back it. The Reddan Brothers grew up backing legends of blues and rock such as Bill Perry, Popa Chubby and Jimmy Vivino. With their newly released CD “Skeleton Key Sessions” those road miles seem to be put to good use. The group has been seen on such high profile gigs as Levon Helm’s Midnight Ramble, Winchester Blues House Festival and the Blues on the Bridge Festival. The youthful energy of the band mixed with seasoned playing makes them a must see trio.

Miami Mo Morgen & Friends will be cookin' up some jazz and blues in the Annex on Saturday, August 6. Singer, keyboardist, and sax player Morgen is a well-known performer in the area, who will bring along George Potts (of Joint Chiefs fame) on bass and Madafo on bongos and hand percussion. A few special guests will sit in with the group including vocalist Maria Hahn.

The band members’ musical resumes are truly impressive. On keyboards is the legendary Jon Cobert, a five-time Grammy-nominated musician who was, most famously, in John Lennon’s band during the 1970’s. On bass is Tony Tino, who has toured and recorded with Gavin DeGraw, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, Clay Aiken, Ronnie Spector, and many others. On drums is Denny McDermott who has toured with David Johansen and recorded with Donald Fagen of Steely Dan. As a guitarist and vocalist, Chris Fox headed successful bands that played hundreds of gigs in the Downtown NYC/Greenwich Village music scene of the ‘80’s and ‘90’s, including opening for nationally-known acts such as David Crosby. After taking time to work and raise a family in Chappaqua, N.Y., he is back to focusing his energies on music.
