Hosted by Bruce & Jeanne Hildenbrand, this is a monthly music series showcasing two (uh.. actually three!) area musicians.

DAVE KEARNY "lets loose in a powerful way onstage, in a style reminiscent of a cowboy archetype – singing sad, slow songs that lead nearly every guest in attendance to cock his or her head to the side and think about someone they long for."

ELLY WININGER is "A folk-blues legend." " ...Stunning ...Sparkling..." "Incredible picking..." "Pure energy, heart, and humor in one great folk performance." "She's beyond category...." "The woman is a musical explosion."

MARJI ZINTZ is "...one in a million, no SIX million..." “Beautiful, bluesy, and crystal clear!!” "...you could hear a pin drop during Marji's performance..." “...a voice like fine crystal...” "...Marji completely captivates the room..."

Pesky J. Nixon, Plume Giant
Acoustic, Alternative, and Singer-Songwriter
Common Ground Coffeehouse
25 Old Jackson Avenue
Hastings-on-Hudson, NY   See Map
Pesky J. Nixon (PJN) has always feared small elevators and unintentional feedback (the speaker kind, not the criticism kind). With five years of melding and exploring Americana, Traditional, and Urban Folk influences Pesky J. Nixon has become one of those bands you can’t well shake out of your head. With tunes as catchy as their stage presence is endearing, these boys are winning fans straight up and down the East Coast. oining the Pesky Boys will be Plume Giant, who’s members, Nolan, Oliver, and Eliza, can be found boozily awaiting the spring on front porches across the nation. If they were perfumes, they would be lavender, ginger and honey, and if they were legumes, they would be parsnips, parsnips and parsnips. They’re Plume Giant, a retro folk trio with no frontman, just guitar, violin, viola, and three voices.

Richie Goods is a master musician whose tenure with many of music's greatest names clearly as worn off on him as a leader-his candor to the audience, his approach in developing a set list, and most of all his bass playing are all top of the line...If you get the chance to catch this group do yourself a favor and do so.~Christopher Lams, Jazz Improv NY

Essential listening for advocates of electric-jazz.~ Glenn Astarita, jazzreview.com

When separate components come together to make a powerful reaction, a bigger reaction than that made by their individual parts, you have witnessed the principle of fusion-Richie Goods and Nuclear Fusion are the embodiment of that principle in action.

Richie Goods is the youngest musician ever to be inducted into the Pittsburgh Music Hall of Fame.

Alternative Rock and a Soulful, Bluesy sound
with The Drew Bordeaux Group, featuring Andrew Bordeaux, Alex Nolan, Matt Graff, and Amanda Ruzza
Rock (classic)
12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
They're taking the NYC music scene by storm! These four talented musicians fuse Alternative Rock with funky Blues "beneath smooth, smoke-and-whiskey vocals", creating a sound that is unique and exciting. They perform at top NYC venues like the Canal Room, the Bitter End and the National Underground, and we're privileged to welcome them back to 12 Grapes. The DBG features the multi-talented Drew Bordeaux on guitar, vocals and electric fiddle, Amanda Ruzza on bass/vocals, Matt Graff on drums and Alex Nolan on guitar.

NY music reviewer Kevin Johnston wrote this about Drew: "When he sings, there are times when he gets so excited you think he's going to jump straight up and disappear... His guitar work is the real deal... A lot of players have forgotten what the rock solo is for, but Drew knows and he uses it to take the music to a new level. And just to make sure you stay interested, he switches to electric violin." Bam.

Eric Andersen is one of the most inspired singer-songwriters to emerge from the mid-1960s folk scene. In 1963, Andersen hitchhiked to San Francisco to seek out the poets of the Beat Generation. Tom Paxton discovered him there and invited him to New York City, where he was soon introduced to the Greenwich Village songwriting circle of Phil Ochs and Bob Dylan. Andersen was also greatly influenced by the blues and jazz greats he saw in Village clubs, including Mississippi John Hurt, Lightnin' Hopkins, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Doc Watson, John Coltrane and Miles Davis. It was here that Andersen began writing & recording the classic '60s folk songs Thirsty Boots, Violets Of Dawn and other classic '60s folk songs. Since then, Andersen has performed worldwide, and his songs have been recorded by artists including Judy Collins, Peter Paul and Mary, Linda Ronstadt and The Grateful Dead.

The Reddan Brothers are a hard hitting blues/rock trio with the miles to back it. The Reddan Brothers grew up backing legends of blues and rock such as Bill Perry, Popa Chubby and Jimmy Vivino. With their newly released CD “Skeleton Key Sessions” those road miles seem to be put to good use. The group has been seen on such high profile gigs as Levon Helm’s Midnight Ramble, Winchester Blues House Festival and the Blues on the Bridge Festival. The youthful energy of the band mixed with seasoned playing makes them a must see trio.

Ever wonder how music is created? We're going to show you, with a new live music event called "Sessions". Join saxman and vocalist JP Patrick and his band, Patrick Murphy McDowell, as they rehearse, work, and play for each other, and for you. "Sessions" is an opportunity for audience members to be co-collaborators on a new song, or to simply get an up-close-and personal view of what it takes to put together a live performance. See how various guest musicians can actually change the entire feel of a song. Band members will be open to hearing your input... you'll be learning and entertained all at the same time.

Budding musicians of all ages will be inspired as they watch the creative process unfold. Even if you don't perform, you'll enjoy this intimate look at how musicians do what they love to do best: "play". Join us for a night of low-volume, high quality music the whole family will enjoy.

1. Glorify God and the gift of His Son through songs He has inspired me to compose and share with others.

2. Focus on the hope that we can rise above the offenses and weakness of the flesh through faith in Jesus Christ.

3. Encourage that, as we intimately embrace the truth of God's infinite mercy (through the atonement of Jesus Christ) and as we hold onto nothing else, we can be born again, a new creature in Christ , . . no more to fall from grace.

Towne Crier Cafe
130 Route 22
Pawling, NY   See Map
Uncommon Ground is a hot, pan-genre, acoustic music group from New York's Hudson Valley that is on a mission: to flex the boundaries of traditional music. Since making an impressive debut to a full house at the Towne Crier in 2007, they have continued their evolution into "the complete package" ... great vocals, fiery instrumental abilities and a continually evolving repertoire of well-crafted tunes. Their music bears an unmistakable stamp of originality without losing the authenticity of the original sources. Audiences delight in the thrill of musical discovery as the band performs a repertoire that includes music from such diverse sources as Bill Monroe, Gabriel Faure, Venezuelan Choros and Gypsy Jazz. Uncommon Ground is as fresh an addition to the music scene as has come along in quite a while ... Their performances are not to be missed!
