James' music has been described by others as being a mixture of such diverse artists as John Fahey and Robbie Basho meets Erik Satie. His music can range from uplifting to haunting, inspirational to gothic. It reaches across many different genres of music and appeals to a wide range of listeners. Drawing his inspiration from individual experience and inner reflection, James’ debut album Reality of the Fantasy is a deeply personal affair, and much of it has an air of melancholy, anger and the regrets and frustrations of everyday life. At the same time, Reality of the Fantasy is a collection of songs that is a quest to find harmony in a world of dissonance and discord, creating a calming, soothing yet hypnotic quality to the music for the listener to experience. .

Sunday 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm | Howland Cultural Center presents PIAF: Queen of Heart in May with Gay Marshall Edith Piaf | Howland Cultural Center 477 Main Street Beacon, NY See Map |
Gay Marshall, who played Diana Morales in "A Chorus Line" on Broadway will perform her Edith Piaf tribute at The Howland Cultural Center in Beacon on May 8.
Ms. Marshall's show, titled PIAF: Queen of Heart, is not an impersonation of the French icon, but an exciting, personal interpretation which includes rare and known Piaf material, along with Marshall's own English adaptations. Marshall worked with Piaf's true friends and collaborators to create a vivid picture of the woman they described as full of joie de vivre and humor, despite the well documented tragedies in her life. This is a brilliant show for the entire family, and very accessible to those who don't speak French. Her CD, "Gay Marshall Sings Piaf", became a Billboard Top World Album in 2009. She is magical! www dot gay marshall dot com
